There are three types of Personna blades being produced at the Nazareth plant.

1. Crystal Platinum - AKA Israeli Personna's, IP's, Super + Platinum Blue & white wrappers. Marked Super + Platinum. Packed in 10's (dispenser) or 100's (loose in a white carton).

2. Personna Platinum Chrome - AKA Red Personna's, Red IP's, Israeli Reds. Originally in red wrappers, now white. Unmarked or marked Personna Platinum Chrome. Packed in red boxes 5's or 10's (US style) & in plastic dispensers 10's (UK/Europe style).

Many variations of this blade with own brand drug stores etc. For OEM, blades in metal dispenser are normally US made & Israeli made blades come in the plastic dispensers.

Also I would be surprised if Accutec keeps the OEM business going forward. The contracts with Walgreens etc would have been with the wet shaving division still owned by Energiser. I can't see Energiser paying Accutec to make blades when they have their own plant in Nazareth. Accutec have been raising their prices from 5%-80% recently & some vendors won't accept the 5% let alone an 80% increase on the Prep blades.

Thank you, Paul. That was helpful. I thought I pretty much knew what was going on with them, and it is more than apparent that I didn't. It now seems that the answer is to just never buy any of them again.

I will just stick to Feathers. At least then I only have to choose between yellow and black blades.

Gotta love them Japanese boys. I love my KAI - only one kind of packaging and nothing written on the blade Smile - keeping it simple.

I am down to ~215 Med Prep blades I bought last summer - Connaught special and now ranks as a real bargain at $.19 each shipped.
Need to start looking for another bargain (hint Paul )

Just checked the price, $27.52 + shipping. Cheaper on Amazon, $29.55 delivered.

Those are NOS or current production? Some of the stores around me used to sell these blades, but I have not seen them for a long time. Also, what about the Personna "Comfort Coated" blades? How do they differ from a non-Comfort Coated blade?

This is a post from SMF & a few years old so I could not find all the pictures I wanted. A better picture would be with the metal dispenser marked "STAINLESS STEEL". Not sure if they did this to save money on packaging or if they have downgraded the blades to PTFE coated only. All blades sold for shaving are PTFE or Comfort Coated. The UK Personna office was closed recently & I can no longer ask directly about packaging & coatings. As the main market for this blade is US drug stores/markets, other members here will have more up to date info.

When I purchased my latest stock of USA No.3 blades I was assured that the spec had not changed but they were never able or willing to confirm the coating on these. I don't think I will be able to carry US made DE Personnas going forward, the increases are just too high.

Vis-a-vis contacting Personna; good luck getting the USA Personna to respond to any inquiries. I have tried a few times to no avail.
