Looking for first synthetic

SynBad is the name Mr Andrew Palomo gives to Oumo Mother Lode.
As Gelousy is his name for Oumo Finest SHD Manchuria.
Different price is about custom handles and settings.
The same It's available just dropping a line to Oumo.
For a cheaper price.

Oumo Mother Lode (aubergine) and Oumo Black Mother Lode (Tuxedo Thin or Superfine) are my favs.
Being so thin fiber, It must be setted very low with a large knot. Mines are 28x50mm, and I love them.

This is correct. They are definitely NOT the same fibers. In fact, the "motherload" knot is not actually made of fibers for the shaving brush industry. It's makeup brush fibers. I don't carry this style of knot because I wasn't able to use it successfully without tangling the hairs in the middle consistently. But with most things in this hobby, YMMV. Could just be my lather style. Regardless, knowing this was a potential issue for future customers, I avoided it.

I like the AP shave co G5C alot, its got a good amount of back bone. I like synthetic knots but they wear out much quicker so you might want to consider setting them with silicone instead of epoxy. I have one thats about a year old now that is pretty much completely flatened and its set in epoxy so the handle is going in the garbage.

Ive never had to trash a badger knot and im pretty agressive with my splaying.

Wow. I'm kinda shocked. I have some synths that are much older than a year and they're still in good condition. I don't expect forever from any knot. However, a year seems short. I wonder if it's brand specific? You did say you were aggressive with splaying... Maybe that plays into it? Either way, I always set knots with silicone.

Im sure the knot has something to do with it, I would have to go back and check the receipt to see if I can find which knot was used, to be fair it didn't loose fibers and it was a nice knot, not the type i usually like as it was very soft with not a lot of back bone. But it was early in my synthetic testing time, there are some cheap synths out there so who knows.

I only have 2 synth knots now that are about 4 months old and I cant say weather or not the change in its shape are normal break in or if they will continue to flaten out. I will say though the G5C is a very nice feeling knot, and synth knots clean up super easy.

Agreed. I have three G5Cs and all are awesome. Same with the 2BED APSC replaced last year... A great knot. These are my two favorites.

Do they offer the STF in a Fan or Hybrid type or just in a Bulb? I personally have moved on from bulb shaped knots because they just don't hit that spot for me like a fan knot does...
