I got back on the program yesterday.

I plan on eating strictly keto every day and doing OMAD on most days.
(OMAD = One Meal A Day, no snacks)

Yesterday morning: 171.0
This morning: 169.8

So I lost 1.2 in the first 24 hours.

Yesterday my diet was a large salad (mixed spring lettuces and arugula, cucumber, tomato, carrot, olive oil and vinegar) and some smoked chicken. I was planning on doing OMAD, but snuck in a snack late at night... It's the dogs fault bc he begs relentlessly, then I give him something and then I eat a snack that I did so well all day to avoid).
The snack was some fresh ground peanut butter (literally peanuts, ground), Jarlsberg cheese, and nutritional yeast, and maybe some macadamia or pine nuts.

Today, my diet was a field green lettuce salad with blue cheese dressing and some pulled pork. The barbecue sauce does have some sugar but no idea how much. Ideally I would avoid any sauces with sugar/carbs, so not sure how much weight loss I'll have by tomorrow morning (I weigh myself in the mornings to be consistent).

I'm keeping this "journal" to document my actions and the results. Hopefully it will keep me motivated, and maybe it inspires someone else.

[One word of caution, if you have Type 1 Diabetes, you can NOT do this diet.]

Lately I've been doing OMAD too, sorta ( I never knew what to call it). If I'm not hungry I won't eat out of habit. That's been keeping me to OMAD. But I do graze, nothing major, before or after that meal. Today for instance, I fried my experimental Spam and had some to taste it, then when it was cold tasted it again to see if it would work for a BLT salad. The previous morning I cooked some small breakfast sausage and had 2. Six bites, the width of a standard fork and they were gone.

I make sure to take a good multi vitamin, a B complex and 1g of vit C. Also K2 mk7 and D3.

Nero, I know you know that you need to be careful with carrot. My careful veg is onion.

Hi Brian, sorry if you’ve already explained this but I haven’t kept up with every post in this thread - what’s “experimental spam”? Are you experimenting with eating spam or are you making your own?

Lost one pound since yesterday, and I'm now 168.8
2.2 pounds down overall in 2 days

And, I did end up eating a snack after my previous post... dog's fault again!

Today I'm gonna try harder to not

Keep in mind I'm also doing some bicep curls, situps, pushups, and chinups ... So I'm gaining some muscle mass while losing fat mass.

So my fat loss is greater than I'm reporting in the daily numbers.

But let me back up... This first bit of weight loss is actually mostly water. By burning off my storage of glycogen (stored glucose [sugar]), I am losing water weight... Why's that? For every gram or pound of glycogen stored, we have twice that amount of weight in water... Why's that? The glycogen must attach to the water molecules in order to be stored in our body.

Once my glycogen storage is depleted, then I will have no extra unnecessary water weight to lose, and so all my weight loss will be fat loss.

The water weight loss is an inevitable/necessary step before we can tap into the fat burning via keto diet.

Shadowsdad - too many carrots is not good, but also too many onions is not good...
I'm not really scared of either, bc I don't go overboard usually.
Btw the more you cook them, the higher they get on the glycemic index (so they're better to eat raw than cooked).

It's nothing major. It was an experiment with putting liquid smoke on it so that I wouldn't need to load the smoker with 20 some odd cans and then load the freezer. I just won't smoke one can or even a few cans at a time.

I hope this link works. If it doesn't it's found in the spam thread.

This morning: 166.4
So down 4.6 in 4 days

I expect I'll have another 2-3 pounds of the rapid water weight loss, then be into the fat and will lose 2-3 pounds per week as long as I'm doing OMAD.

Last night I felt like making something simple, quick and easy. So half a green pepper, cut into strips, 1/2 a medium onion cut into strips from pole to pole, went into a 8" skillet with some butter on medium heat to wilt. They got some salt to help sweat them. While that was cooking I took 2 eggs and added S&P and whisked them. When the veggies were cooked to my satisfaction I added the eggs and cooked them to my desired doneness. Served with some HP Sauce for added flavor. Delicious, simple, fast, easy, and a one "pot" meal.

Then I got to thinkin' (LOOK OUT!). If the onion family was to disappear tomorrow I'd starve to death, but onions are the storage organ of the plant and as such they contain carbs. But what about green onions? Hah! 15g contains 1.1g of carbs and half of that is fiber. So I can have my onions and cut my carbs some more. One might think shallots and leeks, but they contain carbs too. Leeks not as much as yellow onion, and it's made better because some of the carbs are fiber. But I think leeks are very mild in flavor. But I'm going to give them a try. Normally I just use them in potato leek soup (cauliflower/leek substitute?).

I’m back on Keto.

Was doing great with it until the pandemic hit then fell off the wagon.

Beer will be my biggest challenge. No sugar foods and bread is actually pretty easy for me. Trying to find time to exercise every day too.

Looking forward to it again…

I've been steady on the keto for the past few days, but I haven't been very good about keeping the meal count down!
So I haven't weighed in.... I already know what the result is.
But tomorrow is another day.
And I still feel great and motivated.

Welcome back Stubble Daddy, we got this!
