I have been off sick the last two days.

I went to the doctor today. Got a prescription for an inhaler and antibiotics. Bronchitis. I lost my voice yesterday from the coughing or the infection.

My sense of smell is dead. I have no appetite. It's hot and chilly in my house at the same time.

I am on my third or fourth box of Kleenex since Monday. My eyes are burning and my mouth tastes like a wet penny from the antibiotic.

The one little thing that has made me feel better besides the family helping out a little more than usual has been a hot shower every morning and a clean shave. Makes me feel human for a brief while.

I was in a hospital many years ago. When I got to go to a regular room out of intensive care I asked for a shower and a razor. I wanted to wash my hair, back when I still had hair, and to shave my face. I settled for a sponge bath and a disposable. Hello nurse!

Even though I feel miserable the basics always seem go so far for me. Give me a toothbrush and a shave kit and I'll feel a little better. For a while.

I feel like I got hit by a freight train. God willing I'll be getting up tomorrow morning and having a nice shave. Hopefully I'll be able to smell the soap and aftershave this time.

I wonder whatever happened to the cute young nurse who helped me back in the day... She gave a guy a reason to get better! Even if I was just a wise cracking 18 year old who didn't realize at the time how close I had really come to not shaving myself ever again.

Makes me appreciate the little joys in life. I just wanted to say this cold scared me. I coughed so much I blacked out for a second this morning. My wife said I was yelling at someone in my sleep the night before too. Fever I suppose.

I decided to get to the doctor today. It wasn't getting better. My job will be there when I do feel better. I hope. I wouldn't want it if being off because I'm this sick jeopardized it anyway.

The doctor today said that I was one leg into pneumonia. I have a course of horse pills to get through. I feel like a jerk for waiting so long to get checked out.

Luckily I'm just one shave away from feeling a little bit better in the morning.

Get well soon! We're in your corner and I'll say a few words on your behalf tonight.

BTDT myself and it's not fun! Multiple times. The last time ( a decade ago?) the Dr. at the emergency room told me, "I've heard of these antibiotics, but I never knew anyone to take them.". It sux when the latest antibiotics are the last ditch effort. It has a tendency to put things into perspective and rearrange priorities.

Feel better soon! May those little daily moments of joy, such as your shaves, propel your recuperation.

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

Todd, please get well soon. My grandfather taught me that a nice shower and a slow, luxurious shave is as healing as any medicine.

Please get well soon!

Due to another hobby of mine (Ham Radio) I became friends with the head of internal medicine and Northwester University. His theory was that by 50 whatever was going to kill you was already inside, the only factor in when was the auto immune system. Keeping that running required more attention to keeping your spirits high than anything a doctor can do for you.
A shave is a great start to that. you might also try for just a minute or so of walking outside the house for a start and find some things to do that drive your passions.
Long life brother.

When I die, I want to go like Gramps, quiet in his sleep - Not screaming like the passengers riding in his car.
