How Many Passes Do You Take?

It really depends, sometimes I get a good shave with the first pass and if I did.. I usually stop there. But normally two. 1 WTG and 1 XTG.

I found 2 XTG and 1 ATG passes consistently give me an irritation-free and long lasting BBS shave regardless of razor (I've kept this method with all the razors in my rotation).

I did 4 passes with a DE when I started out wetshaving. Now it's just a 2 pass straight razor shave going WTG for the first one and ATG for the second one. Even when not using a straight I still follow the same 2 pass shave routine.

I now do a single wtg pass regardless what type of razor I am using.

I find that I get less irritation if I make just two passes, WTG and ATG. No problems with ingrown hairs. Three or four passes takes half my skin off.

4 main passes... with a lot of touch-ups!

3 passes with buffing. Even with my Fatip Grande I can't get down to fewer, no idea how so many here are able to.

I'm with you - 3 passes gets me BBS. Fewer doesn't and more just irritates me.

Only two passes for me. WTG and ATG. I have very sensitive skin.

+1 After learning to shave with a straight, I find I can get almost as good a shave with a D.E. using the same routine.

2 passes does the BBS trick for me anymore. XTG followed by ATG, regardless of razor or blade combination. Even with a straight these 2 passes get me clean as a whistle without irritation.
