Alas, the final and perhaps the best shave of the bunch. I kept the same blade for all the shaves which was the Sputnik Teflon coated and it has performed marvelously well. Short and sweet, it was a fantastic shave with the 1.50 SB gap base plate. Imagine the cutting prowess of the Ikon Tech but, with a much smoother and easier feel on the skin. No, it’s not a mindless shave as you get a real good amount of blade feel but, it never felt intimidating nor on the verge of getting restless if you’re not in a zen like moment. I performed a 3 pass shave for the heck of it and really just to enjoy it for every second that I have it as this will be the final shave before getting it prepped, cleaned, sanitized and packaged up for shipping to the first gentleman on the pass around list/thread. I had a minor moment as i reopened the minor nic from the last shave but, done with a rinse and alum rub. I like blade feel and this one has it but, in a mild mannered way. I’ve shaved with plenty of forward blade feeling razors that take some solid concentration and effort to get a respectable/close/BBS shave and this one was probably one of the better ones in that group. Maybe not number 1 but, certainly in the top 3 or 4. It’s definitely the least harshest that I’ve experienced while also not being the most rigid feeling as I still felt an ever so slight feel of blade deflection or skipping on my passes.  Only felt it a couple of times on the XTG pass and once on the ATG clearing out the Adam’s Apple area. In the end an awesome BBS finish without any irritation anywhere and the alum confirmed it. I think the best shave of the 5 was had tonight. 

It’s real hard to say or come up with a complete and thorough review only because I only used each plate once in an effort to get a quick feel and at the same time wanting to get this razor out into others hands as quickly as possible. I will say that I did not get a bad shave at all from any of the plates as they all performed at an above average grade with a couple being in the excellent range such as the 1.50 gap plate. One would need at least 4-5 shaves with each plate to get a real good feel and finding optimum angles for the best potential shave result. One shave is not going to cut it. But, if I were to say which one(s) would be my potentially preferred plates, I’d probably go with 3 of them, the .80 SB as an easy daily, the 1.10 OC as an every other day shaver and the 1.50 SB as the one for multiple days of growth. I think those were my best performers given it was only one shave on each. Again, more shaves are warranted to get a more clearer picture and total outcome on the Hummingbird.

One thing is for certain, the Gents are going to have some very interesting shave results in the pass around and I think that will tell a better story as it goes through the process of attacking different beards and varying techniques.

They are in the same realm but, I think the Blackbird is a bit more blade forward and slightly more efficient. The Hummingbird feels a bit easier on the skin Celestino. At least to me it does.

На российских форумах вы не найдете хороших отзывов о Start, Taiga, Baikal или Hummingbird. Если найдешь, то очень мало. Мы не любим выскочки). Есть бритвы из Америки, Англии, Канады, Испании, Германии, Италии ... HLS? и кто ты? Я не знаю и не хочу знать.
Praising Western designs is the norm. Russian? Nonsense. Do not forget that in Russia there was no production of stainless steel razors throughout the history of our state. Start, Taiga, Baikal, and now the Hummingbird, these are the only small-scale serial samples in the entire history of my country. And this is just the beginning, new razors, shaving brushes, razor and shaving brush holders, new lotions, shaving soap, towels ... all this is already in my head. We have big plans. Unfortunately, production fails. Slow. We sell in a month what we produced for 4-5 months. But we are working on it.
Your forum is a breath of fresh air. Americans, you are straightforward but overly delicate by our standards. As you think, say so, but ... there are problems). If you do not like something, then you do not speak directly - this is bad, you delicately avoid the shortcomings. We must learn to grasp the nuances. But I've already learned this).
The best feedback from your forum. Three-quarters of the changes in the future Taiga are taken from the wishes (reasonable) from the topic on this forum.
