Used CoatTails for the first time this morning and it is very different from Mohammad’s other soaps.  The lather from this soap is more like a paste once built.  It takes a ton of water just like his other soaps but this soap is also softer so it’s easy to load too much as I did this morning after a 15 second load.  The cushioning is exceptional just like his other soaps but thicker and pastier.  My shave was outstanding but this new base does not have as good of an afterfeel as all of the other soaps in the GD line.  All in all, I loved the scent, lather and shave.  I used my Karve razor with one of the new baseplates that I am testing for Chris.  Loved it!!  Outstanding shave this morning and I love the fact that these soaps are limited and numbered!!

Thank you so much for posting your thoughts on the soap. I'm happy you like it.

This base takes a very different directions from other bases. In making this base I wanted to make a base that really emphasizes the controversial trait "Cushion" This base has a very obvious high level cushion feel Smile

The official release of the base in the Almond scent will have much better post shave feel.

Mohammad, you absolutely NAILED the cushion aspect!! I already love the cushion from your other soaps but this was on the “unreal” side of cushioning!!

Coattails

+1 from above

Have you ever had one of those experiences where you dread the end from the beginning? This mornings shave was one of those for me!

For those who were lucky enough to receive a tub of Coattails, you understand and for those who were not, I'm sorry... This one gets a WOW! The scent is exquisite! Quality of the lather, the top! Slick/Protection/Cushion/Post Shave, spot on! I agree with above that the post shave is just shy of some of GD's other offerings but still as good as any other soap out there! You do need to be aware that the soap is somewhat soft and loads quickly (don't want to waste any). I loaded my APShave 24mm SilkSmoke brush for about 8 seconds and had way more lather then I needed. I agree with george1906, this soap does handle a ton of water very well!

Mohammed, BRAVO! You are making me want to sell many of my other soap/creams. How can it get any better??

First shave with Coat tails. This makes a very dense and creamy lather. It is extremely easy to load. As you can see, I loaded too much. Big Grin
Slickness is great and it’s one of the few soaps that I can buff with its residual slickness. Didn’t use a post shave product and do not feel the need to. Cannot begin to describe the scent but the wife and I enjoy it.
Bravo Mohammad! There has not been one of your soaps that has disappointed in the performance department. Looking forward to the new releases.

Hi Robini

Soon Smile I'm going nuts here waiting for ingredients. Cupuacu butter was shipped from Brazil, it'll clear customs any moment now! The post shave serum Bottle pour-reducers have not shipped from the vendor even though my order was placed 5 days ago.

I finished the pre-shave moisturizing cream, and now about to place an order for the jars and labels.

I concur with BooDro82 assessment.

Yesterday was the 2nd day that I used Coattails and again too much soap was used. Two days ago I swirled 15 times on the soap and yesterday 11 and even 11 swirls was too much lather for a 2 pass shave. Really thickens up if you lather and then let it sit for a bit as you can see in the pix. I like yogurt like thickness and this one is just a tad thicker, lots of cushion that's for sure. On Sunday, I was running late so did a quick rinse off and AS slapped on, then noticed some thought post shave not as good as other GD soaps so yesterday paid attention to post shave. For me, I would say even with the vegan GD soaps I have but not as smooth as the tallow\duck GD soaps.  Scent, cant describe but I like it as does my significant other. Looking forward to the Almond scent and hope to snag on upon release.

15 swirls on the soap, transferred to a DB 1.5 scuttle that has inside bowl diameter of 4.5 x 2 deep and filled up 3/4 of the bowl. This is a thirsty soap.

As you can see, pretty stiff lather peaks. Some may not like this but right up my allow as protection is great

Thank you ram57 for your business and sharing your thoughts on Coattails.

My objective for the base is to highlight increased cushion and super protection, almost cream like in texture and behavior, but also be super quick to lather. I won't tinker with the base to give it better post shave feel Smile

I don't understand why folks are swirling the brush directly in the Coattails jar. This is clearly a cream (not a soap) and a sticky-cream too; simply dipping the brush in would be too much product. I use a little plastic scraper to remove a small dab of cream from the tub and put it in a lather bowl and it's plenty for a 3-pass shave.
Swirling the brush directly in the jar would mean you'd use up all the Coattails product in about a week. Big Grin

GroomingDept Do you agree? Would you call Coattails a cream rather than a soap or croap?
