DanLaw has some Angel for sale in a lot of 3 different GD soaps here

Who really even needs to know what date a soap will be available so far in advance? The only reason I can see for doing this is to try to generate excitement/anticipation. And then if you don't deliver, it will disappoint those that did get excited.

Just wait until the release is imminent and then share the date a few days before. A business should try to manage their customer's expectations to avoid disappointment.

I totally get what you are saying, Rob, and I mostly agree. But I also understand why Mohammad is doing so:

People keep asking about the release, even though that seems to me like useless info (unless someone is determined about not missing a limited release, or someone living abroad - who has to buy through someone else, or someone who is maintaining a strict budget). So he (Mohammad) is trying to please everyone.

But I agree, "Who really even needs to know what date a soap will be available"

Thank you everyone for your opinions and thoughts.

I'm making mistakes, I'm listening, I'm learning Smile

I'm going to move away from setting dates. This weekend, I'm researching the options I have.

It’s just shaving soap. Yes, one of the finest made today.
No worries on the delay for me especially after reading recent posts on the subject of delays.
Not blood pressure prescriptions expected or an acceptance/rejection letter from Harvard.

The only explanation I can come up with is people are used to an Amazon Prime world and we’ve lost any sense of patience.
This is a one man operation. I just appreciate the fact that he’s actually making such a great soap.

Complaining about a shaving soap or release is not the sign of losing our minds. (I for one never complain as I never purchase limited release products anyway).

If you have to go so far as to suggest people are losing their mind, people becoming too used to Amazon, people losing sense of patience because someone said 'Have gone thru more trouble', it is you who is losing his mind.

Hold your horses before passing judgement.

EDIT: this is a SHAVING FORUM. on our best day, what we discuss here might seem crazy to regular people. So some craziness when it comes to product delivery/scheduling shouldn't come as abnormal.

My intentions were not to sarts any problems by ppsting about the release delay. Grooming Dept is by far one of the best soaps I have tried. Plus I'm not trying to seem impatient, have no problem waiting for a soap of this caliber. As a bonus I see the Donkey Milk one should be coming out at the same time, since these are the only 2 GD formulas I haven't tried I really hope things go well with the curing process and that they are able to be available. Sorry for causing any unnecessary anamosity that was not my intent.

Mohammad won't say anything because it'll just sound like he's just making excuses, so he'll just take the blame for this instead.

However, he did show me the tracking of one of his main ingredients that was seriously delayed (by weeks) as it seemed to be taking a tour of the US during it's delivery.
Moving through several states with delays at each state that it visited, instead of taking anything that even remotely resembled a direct route. This order substantially missing the postal target delivery date. One of those items that you suspect may be lost and never arrive.

I've seen this once before with one of the passaround boxes that I oversee on another forum, where a box shipped one state over took a tour of the entire Eastern United States.

So, a significant delay in materials is likely the cause of this missed target date. The materials were ordered well ahead of time but these things do happen. I suspect that this is likely the cause of the release date delay.

I hope that Mohammad doesn't get upset that I shared this information but I hate to see him get slammed for something that I know was completely out of his control.

Understood, but the easy solution as already mentioned is to stop setting dates for every single release. Unforeseen things like this can happen and you end up with a bunch of people getting their panties in a twist over shaving soap o_O. What's wrong with just posting when the soap is available or setting up a pre-order system like some other vendors have done?

The pre order thing is great and all but imagine if he collected funds from people and then made them wait. A back in stock notification sending an email to the customer might be superior.

Also, do know that if no dates are posted then emails come in daily asking when specific soaps are going to be back in stock and when and what new ones are coming out. It's one of those damned if you do and damned if you don't type of things.

What I'd probably recommend that Mo do is set target dates and go with wider date ranges like Spring 2018, Summer 2018, Fall 2018 and Winter 2018. That would give people a heads up of what's coming out but not commit to a specific date. Not sure if this would stop the inquiry emails though.

I thought of something similar — perhaps announcing the release month of a specific soap a few months in advance.

Then, when absolutely certain that the soap (aftershave, what not) is ready for release, announce the exact date 5–7 days in advance.

I think he’s done that. Look at his Release Page

Good theory, but the target audience of these new artisan "boutique" soaps has the attention span of an autistic chimp on crack. Anyone who has been following forums for more than a year knows every couple of months a new shiny "ball" is rolled in front of said chimps and....
