Yea Doug. I believe 14 was a model or the number assigned by Filarmonica for their  7/8th's razors. Other manufacturers made blades marked “14”. From reading. Some people contend that the Herkenrath forge company, hope I spelled it correctly.  Did the “blanks” for Filarmonica and other manufacturers used them as well. And that maybe that was their #14 Blank.  I’ve seen Henckels 14’s that look like my Filly’s and Korrat, so there’s that.
Maybe someone else will chime in and tell me how wrong or right I am.
So if you see a straight marked with a 14. It probably is a 7/8ths with the same shape as a Filarmonica. Filly also has 13’s (6/8th) and I think 12’s (1/2”). I’m no expert. Just a fan of the Filly’s and my Korrat. As the size, grind and design of it works really well for me.

Straights have a vocabulary all their own, which I think is cool, and feels like you are in a secret club! Old Car fans are the same, speaking in terms that I don't understand, but what I do understand is their love of the old classics and the minutia of all that went into making that car tick. And the fact that they can tear it down and rebuild it, without calling tech support!

Every discipline has its own buzzwords and terminology. I’m familiar/fluent in- Army, firearms, auto/motorcycle, woodworking, trucking,  construction and now wet shaving.
Bet you could throw out some pharmacy lingo Eric.

Thursday’s Shave
[Image: y7x3AJn.jpg]

Occam Oren Nano w/feather pro (5)
AP Shave Cashmere
PAA Astra Planeta
4711 AS

Fifth shave on the Feather Pro blade. Holding strong. I usually have to bin my DE blades after 5 uses. Interested to see how many comfortable shaves the feather AC blade gives. General consensus on the web is 10 shaves on average.
Bright scent in this soap. So many notes they are difficult to separate out. It’s nice though. The 4711 is a nice bright citrusy finish, though fleeting.
Pretty much have figured out how to get the best use of the Nano with no nicks or irritation. Going to try the feather super next. Once the pro tails off.
Friday’s here folks. Have a good one.

Friday is in the history books. And so is my shave.

New item alert. TABAC Craftsman Y'all. I am a huuuge Tabac fan. This stuff is nice. But really similar to the little black bottle of Tabac Man that I already have. Hangs around pretty well. And is light and bright without being too new school.
For the cutting I went with my Genco Pyramid razor. Equipped with a Guanxi edge.
Suds whipped up by the V1 Fluffy Industries Copper Edition.
B&M Nordost Soap a great two scent soap. (Orange and Smoke)
My first Guanxi edge that I put on this razor is "Ok". But I think it could be better. So after this shave I broke the Chinese rock back out. And commenced to fiddling with it. Trying some different Shogun techniques. May keep my alternation with the Nano or give this "new" edge a spin tomorrow. Haven't decided.
Bring on the weekend.

I could send you a blotter type sample in an envelope if you want. I'm not very good at describing scents.

Last two shaves.
[Image: TFtZGZp.jpg][Image: np5hIPk.jpg]
Both nice as usual. The "refresh" on the Pyramid razor. Resulted in a nice mellow edge. I can see why people lump the Guanxi Stone's ability in the 12K range.
And shave number 6 on the Feather Pro blade in the Nano is still going well.
Ready for the new week, I guess. Hope you guys had a good weekend.
