Was sold this brush by a DFS member. Solid reputation. Brush was not inexpensive.
After the brush shed 5-6 hairs with the first two uses (and I treat my gear carefully), I brought it to the seller's attention.
This was his verbatim response:

"No way I'm completely shocked to hear that mate that brush has hardly been used only a few times so give it time I got this brush directly from ***** (manufacturer) and iv (sic) never had any issues with there brushes so it should be fine. I would never sell a brush to someone if there was any issues with it, I did a last shave with it before I posted it for sale and it was completely fine."

I appreciated him responding, but the fact remains that it's a shedder. I am going to document the hair-loss here on this thread.
Responses are not needed as I am not going to name names. However, a brush that never lost a hair and is then sold, now begins shedding is suspect at best.

First picture: 4 hairs. Note how these hairs are not "broken, but are complete. Coming directly from the knot and not broken off by the user.

I will let this brush dry 48 hours, before using again. More to follow.

Looks like a badger?

I mostly own boars and my experience is that when they are new they shed, and then gradually it stops. Same for badgers but the tips tend to break as opposed to complete hairs comming out, then after a while that stops too.

So, if the seller is telling you the truth, and the brush has only been used a few times I would expect it to shed.

I know that you know all this primotenore , so why are you surprised?

I‘ve had this happen with brushes that then seem to settle into their new home and stop shedding after a few uses. Then there are others where it just never ends.

True, new brushes might shed at first and 1) either stop or 2) continue to shed.
Seller stated that the brush never shed for him and he used it.
Now, miraculously, after making a trip across the pond, it starts to shed---but never before.
See why I am dubious whether or not the seller was truthful?

The first words out of the seller's mouth should have been: "I am really sorry. Send it back and I will refund your money".
Well, those words would have come out of MY mouth, in any case.

Yes, now I understand. Also, I have never heard of a brand new brush that does not shed. OTOH, I have never owned a $400.00 badger so maybe those never shed. Thinking back, maybe I have had a synthetic that never shed?

Every natural hair/bristle brush I have ever owned shed when new. Some more than others. I recently had a hair shed on a boar brush I have used for over ten years so someone saying that a brush "never shed" is suspicious on its face.

I paid over $388 for this.

Well, that is strange. I have never seen a brush lose eight hairs in one shave. I do know that if I do not soak my boars sufficiently before a shave they will lose one or two (usually from breakage) where they might otherwise only lose one or two in a year.

I wonder why it is shedding so much?

I am sorry to read of your troubles and frustrations with this brush. Zooming in on the images of collected hairs, it doesn't appear that any glue or adhesive residue is present at the ends of the hair. Are you seeing any of that in person? Do you think it is possible those are remnants from a not fully combed out knot, assuming little use prior to your receipt? I wonder if attempting to gently comb it out (or maybe a deeper cleaning with baby shampoo) might bring out any other loose (or on the verge of loose) hairs. Of course that does not address everything that has transpired. But I have previously experienced some shedding from a not fully combed out knot, with a variable number of hairs that work their way out on a given shave session.

Why is irrelevant, no way a person sold that without knowing if they had used it and they have a brush for sale in the BST last I looked. Buyer beware.....
