Hi all, I thought this might inspire some interesting discussion. Even if you don't own your first brush, do you remember what it was? I still own my first shaving brush. It was a gift from my father more than 55 years ago. Yeah, I'm old. I restored it and added a 21mm Premium Silvertip knot from TGN. Of all my brushes it's still my favorite.

Kinda. Crappy Van Der Hagen boar that never seemed to break in and shed like crazy. I liked the handle shape and wanted to try setting my own knots, so it became my first brush experiment.
I steamed the knot out and replaced it with a 22mm Maggard synthetic.

My first shaving brush was a Perfecto 100% Pure Badger from Amazon. I used the brush for about 6 months before the knot completely disintegrated. Fortunately, I also bought an Omega Pro 48 boar brush about 2 months after I got the Perfecto and I still have that shaving brush, although I rarely use it anymore. 2-Band badger and synthetic get the most face time these days.
