Hi all, I thought this might inspire some interesting discussion. Even if you don't own your first brush, do you remember what it was?  I still own my first shaving brush.  It was a gift from my father more than 55 years ago.  Yeah, I'm old. I restored it and added a 21mm Premium Silvertip knot from TGN.  Of all my brushes it's still my favorite.

Kinda.  Crappy Van Der Hagen boar that never seemed to break in and shed like crazy.  I liked the handle shape and wanted to try setting my own knots, so it became my first brush experiment.
I steamed the knot out and replaced it with a 22mm Maggard synthetic.

My first 2 brushes (bought at the same time) were a Simpsons Chubby 2 and a Colonel X2L both in best badger. Still have them. I own about 18 brushes now.

My first shaving brush was a Perfecto 100% Pure Badger from Amazon. I used the brush for about 6 months before the knot completely disintegrated. Fortunately, I also bought an Omega Pro 48 boar brush about 2 months after I got the Perfecto and I still have that shaving brush, although I rarely use it anymore. 2-Band badger and synthetic get the most face time these days.

Boar brushes, brass razors, and hard pucks ARE traditional wet shaving. Everything else is modern day fluff for the girly men.

My first was some 50 years ago given to me by my dads barber. I have no idea what I did with it. Maybe my mom pitched it when I went off to college (like a lot of my stuff). Dodgy

btw, he's also the man that taught me how to use and maintain a str8.
