We have set the official date for the release of our alcohol-based aftershave. It will be on Friday, February 12. Maybe not intentionally in celebration of Lincoln's birthday, but it is a nice coincidence.

Our spring scent, Colonia Balsamica, will come out March 20. It is inspired by a traditional colonia scent, as well as St. Louis' Italian neighborhood, The Hill, home to immigrants from Sicily and Lombard, as well as Joe Garagiola and Yogi Berra. Both MLB Hall of Famers worked at Ragazzi's, about which Yogi famously said, "Nobody goes there anymore because it's too crowded." In celebration of the delicious, traditional fare from the old country, along with the meticulously groomed gardens and bocce ball courts that sprinkle the verdant neighborhood, we have added notes of herbs and freshly cut grass to the scent.

Finally, we will be releasing another scent (most likely) towards the beginning of March. Details will come soon, but it is vetiver and cypress-based and a dark, dry departure from our other scents. It has Hatian and Indonesian vetiver, cypress, nagarmotha, violet leaf, cardamom, incense and benzoin.

Hi Shawn, it looks like you're not letting any grass grow under your feet. I'll be looking forward to your upcoming releases - is there any possibility of getting that alcohol based splash up here in Canada? I know that Will at B&M distributes through Italian Barber, Badger Shaving Co and Men Essentials in Canada. I don't know what your plans are (obviously) but I'd sure like to get my hands on that splash when you release it. I place another order this morning - I'm planning to eventually have everything you make I'm short some balms as of that recent order but I'll get those shortly - I like the idea of applying the balm later on in the morning to really double down on the soothing aspect. One other thing, I mentioned Chatillon Lux to Leisure Guy (Michael Ham) and he'd not heard of you but ordered several of your samples and I believe he will try them out and post his thoughts.

Hey Marko, first of all, got your order. Thanks so much! Really appreciate it. I have it packed up and ready to go and will drop it off at the good post office tomorrow morning. The one that doesn't encourage me to say a prayer before I leave.

I also saw Leisure Guy's order earlier and was pretty excited to send some stuff to the legend. Thanks for telling him about us. He's a big part of my introduction to wet shaving.

Also, I like using the salves at night after washing my face, so I can see what you're saying. I get a lot of moisturizing effect from the face wash and shave soap in the morning, so it does me the most good at night, except for when it's really cold...for us. Probably feels like summer to you.

Lastly, there's a good chance that the alcohol splash will make it up to somebody in Canada. I am pretty sure that we'll have something by the time things start to thaw out.

Hi Shawn, thanks for the tips - good moisturizing is important - its really dry as well as cold here and the skin on the exposed face can take a beating. I ordered a bottle of your Tea Tree Roborant for my son whose face gets dry and chapped - I figure I'll give it a try myself before I give it to him. I might have to order a second bottleSmile

I think its hilarious that you have a good and a bad post office. Has the USPS contracted out? The Canadian post service has although its generally ok, they don't even wear uniforms anymore.

I discovered Leisure Guy's Guide to Gourmet shaving fairly early on in my wet shaving adventure and I made sure that everyone I had put on to wet shaving got a copy. His daily shave blog is interesting and informative and he's easy to engage. I'm interested to hear his thoughts.

I tried the pre shave butter the other day and its nice - do you leave it on or rinse it off the way you do with the glycerin pre shave soap?

Thanks for all your help,
Mark

Thanks, Marko, hope both generations enjoy our stuff. And enjoy the smell of tea tree. I like how it works, but not especially how it smells.

Well, I stop at the post office in the financial district out in the periphery of St. Louis on the way to work. They process packages early in the day, instead of MAYBE that night, but maybe not. Plus they have a drop box for large packages, which isn't available at the one by my place. Plus, I think one of the ladies there is sick of me showing up with a bunch of packages. But at least they wear uniforms, I guess.

As far as the pre-shave goes, I use just a small amount and rub it in until there's nothing really visible on the surface, but you can still feel it. My business partner wipes his brush across it before lathering, but I think that sounds kind of weird and haven't brought myself to try it.

And no problem at all, I'm always happy to lend a hand. Thanks again! (and your package is safely at the good post office)

I'm familiar with the smell of tea tree - anything that smells like that has to be good for you. Smile

Actually, so do I, Kevin. I think it has a clean, somewhat medicinal, scent.

Part of my dislike is likely frustration from trying for a while to make it not smell like tea tree. Finally I gave in and just added complementary scents. I fought the tea tree, and the tea tree won.
