Hey All,

Just thought i'd share my experience.

Ordered Rosa Bourbon and Fougere. Manuel also sent samples of Ylang Ylang and Brisa Oriente.

First I'll talk about scents (in the tub):
Fougere - Different and awesome (my first Fougere).
Rosa Bourbon - Big disappointment. Talcum powder smell. Unexpected.
Brisa Oriente - Spicy and nice.
Ylang Ylang - Hard to describe. Still undecided.

Lathered the Rosa Bourbon to see if my perception of the scent would improve. No go. Lather was beautiful though. Thick, slick and cushiony.

Thanks for posting your scent impressions.

Can I get the scent impressions on the Tobacco from anyone? Is it tobacco flower, green, dried, or cured? Any impressions would be appreciated.

Tobacco flower. I received a sample with my last order. I did not expect to like it but I do.

I have a Fougère and a Dama de Noche on the way. Hope to get them home tomorrow by mid day. He's sending me samples of Brisa de Oriente and Lima-Especias (lime-spices). Lima-Especias is mentholated and is likely to be converted to the new tallow formula. I am curious, though, about the Tobacco scent. Is it anywhere close to how Tabac smells?. Would you rate it as a winter scent, summertime scent or round-the-year scent?.

As for the question the OP makes... There has been a noticeable improvement in Manuel's soaps performance with the new tallow based formula, but the former "Premium" veggie based one was already excellent. I still own a "Vetiver de Haiti" of that formula and had an Ylang-Ylang (beautifully warm floral scent) that I have already finished off, and those are the veggie based soaps that get closer, performance wise, and IMHO, to a good tallow based soap. Lather is thick, creamy, slick, and easy to obtain. Scents are usually on the strong side.

As for the tallow based ones, so far I only own the "Kasbah" LE, and it just takes a tad more effort to lather, but it is still very easy to lather, and quite tolerant with how much water you add to your lather. Performance and post shave is on par with the soaps that I personally rated as the best I had tried, the Mystic Waters, but with a big difference in ease of lathering. I also had some weird reactions on my skin with one of my Mystics. No such thing with the Eufros.

Hope this helps.

I have the Eufros Tabacco in tallow, and it smells nothing like Tabac. Tabac is based on the tobacco flower, which smells nothing like the leaf. I believe the Eufros scent is based on the leaf but, to me, it's a dark scent that smells nothing like tobacco. (To my nose, PAA Cavendish is the definitive tobacco scent.) I love the (mild) scent of Eufros Tobacco, but Dame de Noche is the one I really like (though not tallow). Tierra Humeda is also very nice (again, not tallow).

Scott, you're making me intrigued about the tobacco so it's not floral but more the green leaf (more akin to Zi' Peppino Green Tobacco)? You say the scent is mild, is it milder than Manuel's other scents (like I think of Tierra Humeda as a 7/10... certainly you notice it while lathering).

Any opinions welcome on tobacco! I've been enjoying Jabonman soaps again recently as I put Sierra and Lemon back in rotation for spring.

Well, it's good to have another opinion and I really appreciate, because what I had heard from another forum mate over here was that it does smell like the tobacco flower, together with some vanilla and red berries notes. This opinion comes from a guy who owns a ton of soaps and that has a privileged nose, as far as I can tell, for he is able to pinpoint the different notes in a scent, something that I seldom can do. In a good day, I can tell if something smells of lavender or patchouli, but I'm not, and doubt I'll ever be, that accurate. However, if it does smell nothing like Tabac, that's all I needed to know, and if you rate it as "dark", it's clear to me that it's more suitable for cold weather. Thank you Wink .

Dama de Noche is really outstanding. Together with Mystic Lilac and Catie's Gardenia, those three are my favorite florals. Would be hard to choose one.
