I have a couple of boar brushes that I'm really starting to enjoy.  I was thinking of buying boar knots to put in a couple of handles I have.  Any suggestions on boar knots to buy?  Also, does anyone hand tie boar knots?
thanks in advance!

Maggard's just released their own boar knot, sometime in December. I've used it a few times and it is a really nice knot. I also have a turn n shave "shoat" knot (found on Etsy) in one of my handles. Knot nearly as nice, imo, as the Maggards.

We recently did a all Boar December (DecemBoar). Check out that thread for some reviews on knots and brushes.

Good luck to you!

I went a little crazy for Decemboar and purchased from Maggards, Turn N Shave, The Golden Nib, and from AP Shave Co sale page. The Maggard Razors knots are outstanding! If you go with a Turn N Shave, I suggest getting the ungelled knot. I also bought a used brush with a Shave Forge knot, and it is pretty good, too. The Maggard Razors boars, in my experience, ready to go after one soak, no extensive break in period needed, unlike others.

Read up on the DecemBOAR thread and ask questions about what we all used.

nachum, you won't be disappointed with the MR boar knots!  Happy2

Best boars I have (and I have a lot) came from Mr. Neil Breed at Heritage Collection Shaving.

Oh you just had to mention a vendor I hadn't heard of! Now I must disable PayPal BEFORE I visit the site, just in case!

I have 3 boar brushes left.

I wore out the Semogue 1305.  (Great brush)
The Heritage boar was just a sloppy, over-lofted mess that felt like lathering with a rope.
The Omegas were just meh.
They’re all gone, buh bye!

All 3 that I have left are Zeniths (purchased on a popular auction site) and all of them make me happy.
The patina-ed copper brush, once broken in, is excellent.  Perfect loft, excellent fitting handle and just the right backbone for a boar hair knot.
The chrome handled brush is heavy and a shorter loft, but if you break it in correctly…it’s not nearly as skritchy as you’d think…it’s not plastic either!
These are all very nice knots.  (unless you’re expecting a silvertip badger.)

He’s moving his site so you’re safe for a few days.  This is the guy who reproduces vintage shaving brush handles but he also taught us how to gel knots.  He’s a Funeral Director, a veteran, and a stand up guy.  The boar knots I have from him are stellar and one is on deck almost continuously.
