I’m not sure all the people who email me daily asking where the Vector is would agree. Smile

Then more activity when I have them. I wouldn’t expect substantial updates for the next several weeks.

I lied. Spoke with my machinists yesterday and things are oddly going linearly so far. Here's the progress on the top cap. Original on the left.

Not quite. I need to make a few more decisions first. I'm also unlikely to actually announce price until pretty close to the release anyway.

Shane, from looking at the pictures of the top caps the new razor will be similar, but not an exact copy of the original?

I’m not sure what you’re specifically talking about. We’re not copying their machining. So tiny things that don’t really matter like inside radii and machining processes are adjusted slightly to be optimized. Everything else has been painstakingly rebuilt to be as identical as possible. It’s 99%+ identical. Calling it simply “similar” is a significant  mischaracterization. My best guess is that the unfinished in-progress shot might be what’s causing that confusion.

Edit: It’s important to note that the underside of the top cap around the blade tabs is a place of low importance for performance, but of high importance for aesthetics, machining efficiency, and cost. So this is the area that can be tweaked and optimized most.

I did not realize the pic on the right was not finished, it appeared to have a wider top cap and longer side coverings.

Ah yep that explains it. What at first looks like a wider cap is actually the rest of the billet. Only the underside of this cap has been machined. The entire top side is yet to be machined so the rest of the billet steel is still present. With a closer eye you’ll be able to see where the blade-side edges of the top cap end.

Blackland Razors we need you to invent a time fast forwarding machine so we can get the Tradere sooner! However then I wonder if you would even still be in the razor business with such a machine.

Any who love the update and am patiently waiting to buy this bad boy!
