2ND SHAVE WITH THE OSPREY AND THE MYSTERY BLADE (3)
I used the Osprey again today and increased the settling level to 6.5 from 5.5. I used the same blade for the 3rd use and the blade was still very sharp and comfortable. As many have said, when you increase the setting level you need to change the technique a bit by increasing the shaving angle. I found that to be true today. At 5.5 I could hold the razor at a near 30 degree or neutral angle, today the angle had to be increased. Nevertheless, the shave was outstanding. My concern going into today's shave was whether or not I would have to buff as much as I did the other day. There answer was NO.
I had no irritation, no nicks, cuts, etc. Because this is relatively still new to me, I do go slow and pay attention, lest I slit my throat. So as to the razor, again, I am not an expert. The balance was excellent. The cutouts on the handle made it extremely easy to hold with no slippage. The blade was securely clamped and no issues occurred. The issue with the numbers really didn't come up because I set the razor at 6.5 and used it throughout the 3 pass shave. Clean up is a breeze.
Post shave, I am feeling a bit of a burn, but that could be the A/S or the blade being so sharp. Either way, it isn't an issue.
My next shave, I will try to change the setting wheel while shaving with wet/foamy hands and see what happens. For me, I don't know if my setting will increase beyond this level. I will experiment with a different blade the next time, less sharp, and see the results. Hope this helps those still considering the Osprey.
Stay safe and be well to all.
RAD is just a permanently temporary condition. I'll get over it.. eventually.
