I've been growing and trimming my beard for the past year or so. I've never used any sort of beard oil, but now realize that I probably should.

rather than spending a ton of money trying to figure out what works for most people, what do you guys use or recommend?

I'd suggest some of the pomade homebrewers that I've been using. Take a look at O'Douds All Natural. I have no personal experience though.

I'll check it out.

Brian Krampert sent me some of his bay rum fragrance.  I'm going to use that to mix up my own small batch to see how well it works.  beard oil tends to be $$$.

A friend of mine uses a cheap leave in type hair conditioner. He uses a tiny amount and works it through his beard right after showering. I have personally used some of these products and can see where they would be of use for beard/stache. I know Walmart, Target, etc carry plenty. He says give them the sniff test and chose one. There are also some leave in type hair conditioner products for gentlemen I'm sure. All I know is his beard is soft and smells nice.
(Never Mind how I might know that)

I've not had the pleasure of any Krampert's products. I've seen good things posted about the bay rum scent, along with kind words about the performance. Bay Rum makes me smell like a pirate and that probably isn't the best choice for an average day at the shop. An auto shop, yes....craft and art consignment shop, not really. It's hard to know what any scent will turn out to be until you actually wear it. More about that in another thread sometime.........

I made a 1oz batch of beard oil tonight. my ingredients consisted of the following oils:

1/3 oz - grapeseed oil
1/3 oz - jojoba oil
1/3 oz - sweet almond oil
few drops of Krampert's Finest bay rum fragrance.

I put the oil into these cobalt glass bottles that has an eye dropper top: http://www.amazon.com/Cobalt-Blue-Glass-...B0081SPX9Q

I also used a stainless steel funnel: http://www.amazon.com/Eclectic-Supply-Fu...eel+funnel

I used the beard oil tonight once my beard dried off after I got out of the shower. I put 4-5 drops of the oil into the palm of my hand and thoroughly massaged it into my beard and skin beneath the beard. the smell is fantastic and my face isn't greasy at all.
