unless I'm using an aftershave with alcohol in it, I just rub my aftershave balm into my beard and it feels just as good as when I use oils. it's also much easier than having to use two products on your face. of course the ASB doesn't make the beard shine like the oil does, but that's a minor nuance, imho.

little surprised here. usually I only achieve the shine in my beard from using oils, if I recall correctly, but the last few days I've been using my chatillon lux salve and noticed while in the bathroom at work that my beard was shining pretty darn well...I was shocked as I don't think I really ever had an aftershave balm make my beard shine. I'll have to test with my other favorite balms from stirling.

I'm a member of a "Scent of the Month" type of club: Black Rebel Beard Club, so I get a new scent at the beginning of every month. The scents are always good, and the oil is very nourishing. Today I'm wearing September's scent which is a very cologne-y take on a cedar based scent.

That's interesting. I'll have to keep that in mind in case I ever need to recommend it to someone.

I've started my winter beard 3 weeks ago and I put some Chatillon Lux YRP salve on it last week and I thought it did a pretty nice job also. The beards not long enough yet to really see if I get the lustrous shine put I will soon find out.

Definitely do let me know. Also, great timing to hear this: I ordered the ingredients to play around with making a beard oil just the other day.

Haha, normally I would be like NAAAHHHHHH, but the thought actually crept in my head earlier. One of the reasons I got rid of my beard a few years ago is because it was always itchy. So maybe.......just maybe....
