My first thought when I read this was "that's how you know it's authentic T+S".

I never gave mine a fighting chance, purchased, 1 and done.  For me, it wasn’t even close to bay rum, but I don’t think it was meant to be a strict BAY RUM.  Maybe I was too impatient with it
I was the same way but I've found that it often takes me a while to warm up to new scents that push the boundaries and that was the case with this one for me.  I will put it down then smell it every now and then for several weeks and then one day boom - I love it.  Its weird how the brain and the nose works.  Its true that this is a bay inspired scent and not a true bay rum but its still nice and I'm glad that Ryan is willing to take chances.

my gilbert henry bay rum balm arrived today.

pretty good scent out of the bottle, definitely reminds me of captain's choice balm or stirling's bay rum....the citrus comes through a bit..I get mostly an orange note.

here we are about 3 hours since applying it, roughly, and I can still smell the scent pretty easily. my skin is nice and supple as well.

is it my favorite bay rum scent? no, but it's certainly A LOT better than a lot on the market..

Just saw that Fine Accoutrements is releasing a Bay Rum. Anyone had a test sample they can speak on? Definitely has my interest.

That would be worth a sniff. They generally do a good job

Agreed! I definitely plan to snag a bottle. If it's good, I'll grab backups! Smile

I'm currently in the process of possibly making a bay rum to sell as well.

Do you guys think of bay rum as a spring/summer scent, fall/winter, or any time of the year?
