Thank you guys. I hope it meets up to your Bay Rum standards. I’m the newbie here! Lol

Thank you Marko
I can always put them aside for you sir when their ready. I’m honored!
I’m going to try some spicy resins in the next batch. I even ordered a Bay Rum plant as I’m wondering how the leaves of a fresh plant smell. I never realized how much fun it is making Bay Rum.
I have to thank all you Bay Rum guys in this thread for inspiring me to jump onboard. I didn’t know what I was missing.

There is something about bay rum, it not only gets onto your skin but it gets under your skin as well (figuratively speaking). Those who like it usually like it a lot. There are a handful of fragrances/scents in shaving/perfumery that have a long tradition and bay rum is one of them. There are rules that you have to follow in order to call your creation bay rum but there is also lots of opportunity for creativity - like jazz music, you can ad lib/riff on a theme and come up with something amazing that is still connected to the original. I think there are some who don't get it and don't respect bay rum and will turn out a generic off the shelf blend and there are those who may be intimidated by it so my hat is off to you Frank for fearlessly jumping in (although it took a while ). Next we'll hear that you've bought a Caribbean estate with all the bay trees you could wish for!(06-07-2022, 02:36 AM)Marko Wrote: So Frank Dragonsbeard can I put in my pre-order for a set of each one? Brilliant. No better way to discover what's really going on with this leaf.
And extra snaps to your graphic artist. On the soap label, I like the way we seem to be looking down into a wooden barrel. It's that woody note that so often is left out of our bay rums. Let's hope you can work a little smoky birch or oak into the final fragrance.
Carry on! This is the beginning of something beautiful. (I truly hope you're making a big batch of this!)

Like the Jazz comparison.. I played a little Jazz Guitar in my days.
This could be a problem though cause I’m already thinking of all these potential options as far as what oli could possibly add to the basic blend. Definitely can go in many different directions with Bay Rum.
Thanks Marko!

Funny you mention woody note as I thought about that as I was making this first batch. So many possibilities.
My Derby City bay rum came in yesterday...sweetest bottles in the aftershave market, in my opinion.
It took a while for my cork to reseal properly...I had to leave it off for a few hours to release any pressure that was built up inside the bottle.

I can’t wait to hear more about this “tropical” bay rum!!! Sounds like something right down my alley (yes I see pineapple in there).
Thanks for your creativity Frank Dragonsbeard

Their both sitting next to each other in 1 gallon bottles. Traditional and Tropical in a cool dark place for a while.
