It was the first full size tub of a soap I purchased and I hope it never goes away. It's such an incredibly fruit scent and the pineapple/lime most definitely stand out to me the most.

Also hoping there will be a cologne of it eventually, along with Le Grand Chypre

Edp in Le Grand Chypre is something else I still have 30ml edt bottle from back then and there is nothing like it  Happy2

I saw the email. He lost me with leather as the first scent note. Maybe I don’t know MM but leather isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when I think of her.

Marko, sorry I am seeing this late but in case you're still looking for a comment on some of the fougere variations. Hopefully some of the notes below are helpful. I mention what product type it was that I had since these have been different types of product releases of the 3 different ones mentioned.

Classique aftershave 1st batch and Fougere Classique omnibus shave soap - This scent stands out to me with how it balances obvious green accords with sharp floral (ylang ylang/jasmine) and some gourmand sweetness (vanilla/coumarin/benzoin/heliotrope) I'm sure it could be gourmandy to some, but to me, it's an approachable green fougere with floral and sweetness. It does also have some musk, oakmoss, and patchoulli so as busy as it sounds, as a fan of many of Will's scents, I am happy with how this turned out in the soap release, it stands up to the original scent in the aftershave. To be fair, I did see someone in the EU mention they were unhappy with how the soap smelled, maybe they didn't use the soap which is fair as well, you don't have to love everything. Maybe one to mention was Lavanille for instance, I like it, I can use it, but that one was a bit too chocolately or in a sense, that scent came across more gourmandy in a less pleasant sense.

Aromatique white tub tallow and the EdC frag - I really have enjoyed this scent, early on in my shaves with the soap and even more so with wearing the fragrance when I want to where something that is a bit green and damp. It's up in my more used fragrances so if the cooler weather comes in, Aromatique is a likely choice, again very nice green scent, I know it's not very descriptive but it comes across refined or layered, not too dark either

Imperiale (soap)- I think I had this in the early veggie base when they offered both tallow and veggie varieties, it didn't stand out as far as the scent to me so I don't think I used it. Maybe I can revisit if there was a rerelease but I can't remember anything about how it smelled

Thanks for the detailed reply zaclikestoshave. What I’m taking away is that they’re all more or less unique. I really like the two white tub Imperiale and Aromatique. I’ll probably get this latest one too.

To pivot back to Marilyn, the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the release notification and before I read the scent notes was Night Music. That strikes me more MM. I love NM. I have to dig it out. I know it was “critically acclaimed “ but I like it and that’s all that matters from a fragrance and shaving product perspective.

Marko I would say yes, they are unique. I will say, someone sent me a sample of the Fougere Angelique aftershave last year, and as much as I love citrus and the included individual notes, this one was a miss for me. Didn't come together for my nose to really be excited about. It was probably because it was missing some of the damp or greenery and just was too light.

Never ordered or smelled Night Music, civet musk notes aren't something that I have a draw to right now. I'm itching for leather and coffee though so I will probably be picking up the Leviathan fragrance in my next order. I'm going to order the Marilyn shave sample, the scent profile to seems like I will probably enjoy it. Everyone has been talking up Atomic Holiday and I will snag that sample as well.

I just ordered samples of Marilyn & Fougère Classique from Maggard and will report back here next week with my 2 cents.

I used my Marilyn sample today and wow!! Although it smells good whiffed dry, it really comes into its own when lathered on the face!!

I really get the opoponax and tonka.  Heart
