I bought a bottle of the Beaudelaire AS and I am extremely pleased. It's a greener and more refined around the edges Lavanille IMO. I balked on the soap as I have way too much soap as it is.   Confused

Gentlemen! We have opted to return Marilyn to production for Valentine's Day and shaving soap samples are now available on our site. Full release will be next Tuesday, February 6th, at 12 pm EST.

Here is the description in full for those who would prefer to review it here:

On June 1, 1926, Norma Jean Mortensen was born.

She survived an extremely tough childhood (12 foster homes and an orphanage), married young, then got a job working in a munitions factory during WWII, building rockets and bombs for the Radioplane Company. There, she met David Conover, an Army photographer who would change her life. But, had she stayed in industry, she would have been a titan. In modeling, her next career, she would have been an icon.

Instead, she was an actress, and became Marilyn Monroe.

This Valentine's Day, we pay homage to the Blonde Bombshell herself, the most famous sex symbol of the 20th Century (and likely longer). Monroe famously wore a drop of Chanel No. 5 (and nothing else) to bed, but she also had a fondness for Patou Joy ("the costliest perfume in the world") and the now all-but-lost Floris Rose Geranium. All three were sexy, sensual, intimate things.

Facets of all three have made it into her namesake perfume.

Introducing Marilyn, our sprawling, baroque tribute to Monroe and her legacy. Blended with notes of amber, bergamot, cedar, clary sage, coriander, fir, labdanum, leather, opoponax, tonka, tobacco, sandalwood, vetiver, and ylang ylang, Marilyn is a powdery, cedary descent into what it means to feel stylish and sexy, capped with herbs and florals and underlaid by the promise of desire. Cast in the mold of Golden Age perfumery, the sort of fragrances that surrounded Monroe during her lifetime, Marilyn is the perfect representation of the impact she left behind, tuned for a masculine audience and perfect for the most intimate of company.

Will, although I like Marilyn I think you missed the boat here by not bringing back Ravish for Valentine's Day. Now THAT was a great scent IMO!!

We sat with it and eventually had to liquidate it, so I'm okay with not being present for that particular voyage. Smile

Big News! We're (FINALLY) on YouTube! I've just put up our first video (How to Face-Lather a Shaving Soap) demonstrating how I face-lather our shaving soap. If you're interested, check out the channel, give us a like and subscribe, and let me know what other videos you'd like to see!

I got the e-mail and watched it. The following is just my opinion.

I can get the same results as you and use a lot less soap. I use synthetics exclusively and only need a few, max five, swirls to load a brush. I face lather, unless using a sample for which I press a bit into a bowl. Like yourself, I load it with water to almost the 'breaking point' and then I let it sit on my face for a minute or so to settle in. I will add that I shave after showering and I do NOT dry my face after exiting the shower and I also use a good facial wash in the shower to clean my beard.

Fine video, but damn.....you use a lot of soap!!  Sick

P.S.  The Europeans are gnashing their teeth since Mitchell's Wool Fat went 'woke' and dumped the tallow as did Haslinger. A sharp eyed entrepreneur would quickly locate some mutton tallow and fill that void.....quickly. Scentless of course.

I made the lather that I like. It's not meant to be a hard and fast rule, but folks have been asking. Smile

As for Europe, MWF never incorporated mutton tallow. The "wool fat" refers exclusively to lanolin, which I no longer use due to its high allergen activity. And every scentless product I have ever made (except balm, for some reason) has sat on the shelves, so I'll leave them to gnash their teeth and continue on as per usual. Safer that way. Big Grin That said, neither MWF nor Haslinger is a scentless product. In fact, I cannot use MWF at all because something in its fragrance profile burns my skin HORRIBLY.

Cool. A little different than the last lather video I recall you doing back in the v1 white tub days. I find this video very useful to those of us who generally lather every soap the same old way and find that we just don’t like some soaps. New soap bases and new ingredients require different lathering techniques to achieve optimum lather? Who knew?  Obviously makes sense. Thanks Will. Oh, and you let that lather run down the left side of your neck just for the ocd among us didn’t you? Smile
