B&M New Soap Base

I see on their website they are announcing a new soon to be sold soap base called Excelsior. Perhaps Will will drop by and enlighten us as to the improvement(s). Color me curious. I am beginning to think the only way all these top tier artisan soap makers can improve would be if a barber's hand magically appeared from the tub and shaved you!!

I have used one of the test iterations of this base, not the final version, but my experience is that the lather structure is very similar to the reserve line. When it’s properly hydrated it is a very thick/slick/shiny lather but does not have the marshmallow goo when it’s overloaded/under hydrated. So I call it a stabilized reserve because it’s very mindless. It’s pretty thirsty (aren’t all soap bases now days?) but whips up very easy and fairly quickly. Looking forward to seeing how the final version turns out.

Well, that will eliminate the only complaint a few had about the Reserve base and shows just how savvy Will is as a businessman for perfecting this.  

I did not like the goo. Looking forward to this improvement.

we're not going to go down this road again. if Barrister_N_Mann wants lanolin in it, it'll have it in it...

Agreed. If you don’t want lanolin, there’s always the reserve base. While I’m not sure of the excelsior base ingredients lanolin has never bothered me in the white label or glissant base.

I really hope this new base contains lanolin. I find it helps with post shave but as always YMMV.

Anyway, how does everyone think the new scent sounds? Vespers will be the first scent in this new base. All I can say is, when I see mousse de saxe in the scent notes, I'm very interested. Beaudelaire is one of my favorites so this one definitely sounds intriguing.
