I noticed you got one top cap and two plates.
The website does not offer an option to purchase top cap and plate separately (unless I am not looking carefully)
All I see is the option to buy the entire head.
Is this something you accomplished by emailing AD directly?

Pic also seems to suggest that the one topical is compatible with ALL the plates...can you confirm?

Also...what finish did you get?

You can only buy the whole head not just the cap
And buy the separate plates
Yes, everything is compatible with other plates, mine has a machined finish

Shaving with Atelier Durdan N.7 plate 1.1

Nothing to add about the razor, we already know the construction quality of this French craftsman with his other products and this one is no different, in fact
The razor has perfect workmanship, it holds very well in the hand with its perfectly balanced handle, both the cap and the plate are very thin compared to the Le Maurice razor but they are 2 different razors
You might think that they are similar but no, when you go to shave you realize that they are 2 different products.

Let's move on to shaving, I used the plate 1.1 as my first shave with a permasharp blade "they are one of my reference blades" the first impression reminds me a lot of the Blutt 1.20 razor, the WTG razor on the first pass remains smooth and cuts smoothly clear without hitches "I had a beard of about 4 days" the excellent rinsing never gave the sensation of clogging and no sensation of blade vibration "as many people exclaimed when the first images came out" in the second pass ATG same sensation "clean cut and effortlessly" excellent blade locking and zero vibrations.
In terms of efficiency I can compare it above a Karve D close to E and above WR2 1.25 it is "almost" close to a WR2 1.35 a little below, the blade sensation of this plate is minimal, almost imperceptible " but it's there" this doesn't mean it's annoying, in fact I prefer it to the zero blade sensation of "Le Maurice"
I am certainly surprised by the efficiency of this plate and its softness with a "preferred" blade sensation that is never annoying, I cannot recommend this plate for a daily shave, perhaps the 0.9 plate is better for a daily one, a good mix of efficiency/softness, I think the 0.7 cymbal is perfect as a daily driver... but they are cymbals that I don't have available.

These are my personal impressions, based on my shaving preferences which obviously differ from person to person

If I made any mistakes in my English I apologize

Thank you, impressive efficiency. Wanted order 1.1 now I have no idea .. :-))

Sounds like the 1.1 plate is a winner. I really look forward to trying these out. Thanks for the review Konrad!

I’ve never tried the WR2 out but from what I’ve read the 1.25 plate is probably the one I’ll order next year. And maybe I’ll go up or down from there after I test one out.

I find this 1.1 more efficient than the 1.25 WR2

Try it, you won't be disappointed

I have the No.7 all packed up in the original box Gus provided... Btw, Gus... perfect packaging. It will go out in tomorrow's mail to cigarman .

I only used the .7 base plate for two shaves. The first one was better than the last. I'm not quite sure what happened on that last shave. I could have just been having an off day, but I scraped up my chin something fierce on the ATG pass.

I talked to Moriarty about trying out one of the other plates, either the 1.1 or the 1.5 and shaving like one would with a Wolfman higher gap WR2 1.55 or 1.65, etc. I decided against it, as I feel there are already people on the pass around list who like more efficient razors than I do.

I have to say, my shaving confidence was negatively affected. I needed something to get me back on track so tonight, I shaved with my Blutt BR-1 1.2... Whew, what a relief. I had a stellar shave and all is well now. Wink

I am sorry I haven't been able to provide much valuable information for this razor. I think the .5 gap might work for me, as the .3 felt way too mild and the .7, for me, was too efficient or more likely. I didn't know what I was doing. I don't have the experience many of you do, but I'm glad there are so many here who will be able to provide better insight into the No. 7 razor as the pass around continues.

Thank you Phoenixkh for reviews. As we know your favorite razors it's good information also that 0.7 was too much. It confirms what Mr_Konrad_Dundee wrote  about 1.1 plate as very efficient. I'm coming to conclusion that 0.9 is probably my choice and not 1.1

It appears that the Atelier Durdan N.7 thread by Mr_Konrad_Dundee on 'the other forum' has been deleted (this after GlazedBoker N.7 thread was deleted. I'm not sure why that would have been done but I hope that Mr_Konrad_Dundee will post all of his thoughts about his N.7 here.

I hope Mr_Konrad_Dundee didn't have also ban as me on that other forum..  Mad

But as you can see others managed to survive there without bann so that's very personal and I think nothing to do with what we did post in reality..
