Konrad, congratulations on the acquisition.  I will be anxious to read your thoughts on the razor.  I have always found your comments and reviews to be spot on.

I have already tried the 1.1 plate, but I reserve other shaves to express myself... I can only anticipate that here Agustin, like other Atelier DURDAN products, has done something crazy

Enjoy the pass around, you won't be disappointed

I believe I’ll start with the 1.1 plate myself.  I have a feeling .9-1.1 is perfect for me since I love the GC84p,3one6,Rocca,AX-SE,ATT R1.

Here lately larger gaps have been of interest after using the AX-SE and I look forward to getting a WR2 in the next year.  I also measured the gap of the R94 Rocca to be 1.12.  I’m no expert so I may be doing something wrong but most of the razors I checked were close to advertised specs.  And the AX-SE trio measured 1.05, 1.33, 1.45.

I plan on buying a GameChanger 1.05p in the very near future since the .84p is my go to razor and feels a bit more mild anymore.  My first couple shaves with it felt quite aggressive and now it seems like a feather going across my face.  I’m surprised at how well I’ve adapted to more aggressive razors.

So who knows, maybe the 1.5 will be the one for me.  I’ll try to give a comparison to my other razors when I test the No7 out.

I want to start out this post by correcting my diagnostic error in reference to the threads on the cap. It is true that I noticed my Ti Crown handle binding on the last few threads as I was tightening it up, snugging down the head… My error was thinking this was a No. 7 issue when, in fact, it was a handle issue.

I had been thinking about it this past two days. I inspected the threads and if I start looking at the ends of the threads, farthest from the cap, they are perfect. There is a small section near the cap where the threads less defined and that section is a bit smaller in diameter, I’m guessing to insure the handle doesn’t bind. During the rest of the pass around, more knowledgeable people can examine it and will explain it far better than I can.

The depth of the threads inside the Ti Crown is more than enough to accommodate the cap bolt, but I think they needed to be a bit cleaner. I had a similar issue with the OEM handle and its depth was significantly less than the Ti Crown.

In any event, both handles are much easier to screw into the cap now, though I continued to use 2 M5 washers for safety. I was careful not to exert too much torque in the first place and wanted to carry that through. I’ll include the second washer when I pack everything up for shipment. As you can tell, I don’t have sufficient knowledge about machining to word this correctly, but someone will.

That out of the way, how was shave 2????

As you might remember, all my top razors are in the upper mild to lower medium range. The.7 base plate seems to be a half step or so more efficient than my most efficient razor: the Rocnel Elite, both the 2022 SS model and this year’s brass Elite.

That being the case, I decided to try out the.3 base plate. I could tell after just a few WTG strokes on the right side of my face, this one is too mild for me. 2 days growth instead of 5 last shave and I was struggling. I don’t do this often, but I stopped, carefully removed the blade and installed the.7 base plate. I had to freshen up the lather a bit with the SV brush and away I went.

I had a bit more Alum sting this time around but no lasting irritation. Over confidence, perhaps, resulting in too much pressure would be my guess.

I do wish we had the.5 base plate because I think that would be the match for my face and whiskers. I’ll get at least one more shave in before I send the No. 7 on to Wally. I’m planning to get a shave or three in with my top DE razors while the No. 7 is fresh in this old guy’s memory., so I can make the comparisons.

I noticed you got one top cap and two plates.
The website does not offer an option to purchase top cap and plate separately (unless I am not looking carefully)
All I see is the option to buy the entire head.
Is this something you accomplished by emailing AD directly?

Pic also seems to suggest that the one topical is compatible with ALL the plates...can you confirm?

Also...what finish did you get?
