Did you pick up any? I thought I’d give the coconut rum and Earl Grey Gelato a shot. Both seem pretty unique.

I managed to get some from Mo in the fall - it took forever to get them actually delivered but I have the Coconut Rum and the Almond Vanilla.  Theyre really nice.  It looks like Joe has the whole flight of Mallards available.

IB and West Coast Shaving both sent me emails today, and as I write this, they both still have Mallards in stock.

I was really looking forward to getting the Mallard Coconut Rum especially after I've seen so many talk about how nice the scent is but all I'm getting is some kind of Fall/Christmas candle scent

Let it breathe.  Was disinterested when first opening the Coconut Rum jar but after being open 3-4 days it really came together

Interesting.  My jar recently arrived, so I haven't shaved with it yet, but it does not smell like what I was expecting off the puck.  Nevertheless, scent off the puck does not always match scent on the brush, and certainly does not suggest less than excellent performance.  Coconut Rum was in the batter's box for me, until I read Dan's post. ...

Good to know.  I will try that and come back to Coconut rum in a few days.

Those special edition soaps coming up on 2/11 look really interesting though for me the Kairos Special Edition Pasión really ticks some boxes:  Grooming Dept Kairos + Lamb Tallow + Emu Oil Shaving Soap - Pasión/ Scent Notes: - Pear, Ginger, Tuberose, Narcissus, Hay, Honey, Amber, Leather, Patchouli, Musks.

Certainly shows how folks can perceive scents so differently.  To me, the Coconut Rum in no manner smells like a candle scent.  I'm not exactly sure how I would describe it but it has an earthy quality and a tanginess -- coconut / rum plus fat, I guess -- that is nothing (to me, again) like a scented candle.

Scent Notes: Coconut, Rum, Wood Barrel Accord, Sugar, Spice Accord, Tonka Beans, Vanilla.

It doesn't smell like a candle scent to me either. I think you have to be a little patient with this one. Off the puck, I get a limited preview of what is to come. It opens more on lathering--I think that might the wood barrel accord or tonka bean coming into play though I am not sure. One source describes the scent of tonka bean as follows: "I can only describe the natural perfection of tonka absolute as vanilla-like, spicy/balsamic, very sweet and rich, but also I get hints of caramel." https://www.belayered.com/blogs/blog/wha...smell-like

In any case, these are not the notes of a scented candle.
