My plan was to start on setting 3 and keep it there and do a two pass shave going WTG and ATG and some buffing if need be. Going into the shave I already liked the feel of the razor with the weight reduction from the 2019 I had used but I was expecting more blade feel, similar to the the 2019 maybe a little less based on things I read. Well for me, that was not so. This razor wowed me and nowadays it takes a lot to do that as I’ve become a lot more selective on what razors come into my den.  I said to myself I’m not going to use any pressure on this shave and just let the razor and blade do the work. Blade feel was minimal and the razor was very smooth. I connected with razor within a few strokes. For me a razor either has what I call Mojo or it doesn’t and if it doesn’t it will have a short stay in my den. The Sailor is loaded with Mojo! I didn’t do any aggressive skin stretching which I do when using very efficient/aggressive razors like my Ikon Tech for example. I’m sure once I start to dial this razor up I’ll be looking for what I call a 2 WTG pass going WTG north to South and then a reverse WTG pass that results in a solid level 2 BBS or what some might call a 14 to 16 hr BBS  and so far only the Ikon Tech has been able to do that. It’s my belief that this razor based on today’s shave with the setting on only 3 that the Sailor will surpass that record. I mean only on setting 3 with a long ways to go setting wise. I can definitely see this razor in Titanium and  hopefully that will become a reality one day and if Murat does I’m all in on that razor..
I used the razor right out of the case with the Feather blade which is my favorite blade but I usually hand strop then on the first use but felt no harshness whatsoever.

I just got the Vintage AOS vintage Rose Absolute shave cream which obviously for $30 has no real Rose absolute in it at $700 an oz but however AOS accomplished the scent it was a very pleasant straight rose scent. I’m a heavy loader as I love tons of lather and the soap delivered on that along with providing  good protection and good slickness. So happy with that purchase.

The WTG pass took down a lot of my growth so the ATG pass didn’t have much to clean up and I could have stopped right there but I wanted to do some buffing as I didn’t want the shave to end I was enjoying it so much so I set it on #1 setting and wow was the razor smooth and I’m almost certain that on setting 1 to 2 this could easily be a daily shaver.

So final thoughts. Im truly impressed with this razor which has potential to replace more than a few razors in my den as it offers a very wide range of gaps. I gotta say I got a great shave today. I don’t have a Rose scented aftershave which I’ll need to make one for myself so I used a Unscented non alcohol skin food lotion I’m testing out to finish up with and my face 6 hrs later truly feels like a babies skin.

I think I’ll shave with it again tomorrow on setting 2 as I want to see how it performs as a daily shaved and then let my beard grow out for 3 or 4 days and go to setting 5 to see how the razor feels on that setting.

Sorry for the long rant but I’m very excited to explore more shaves at a variety of settings with the Sailor.

Great shaves all.

Good suggestion. Thayers Rose is the only one I don’t have.  Thank you!

We've got a top cap wiggle thing going on here and this was  3 or 4 settings. It gets worse on higher settings.
Are they all this way or just mine, it's not being held tight enough.
Rattles when I the razor in shake off the excess water is how I noticed.
Wasn't exactly sure how to get a video on here so I don't know if this link will do it.

Hey.  Do you have the cap facing the correct direction? I’m thinking this is the culprit.  It must face a certain direction.

Yes I've got it like your picture shows with the top cap reading backwards but the handle like the picture.
I did try the other way, and the adjustments were off.

I just tinkere with mine a bit and I have the same wiggle. up to the max setting 5 its very minor. Going around to 5 again its about the same. I checked with a mini level and caliper and it stayed level and dimensionally mirrored all the way up. Think it may be the spring loaded contraption keeping it level. I never had the courage to shake it hard enough to notice I have to imagine its a design of the razor.

The taiga, also spring loaded, doesn't do this because it has 1 spring is on the center versus the 2 springs on the sailor. I dont have enough of an engineering background to determine if this could be a potential long term risk or the remediation involved.

My Paradigm SE has two springs on the ball bearings and and those havent depreciated in performance one bit since day 1.

I was assuming there was one spring on this but what do I know. Makes sense that it's level though.

Edit- Its two, heavy duty springs. If you look down the two alignment holes they're visible

This wiggle I hear of is Not normal. I have last year's Sailor and do not encounter this problem. Like some, I use a bowl that is already filled with water to shake and rinse off the lather, quite vigorously at times. Although I have over recent shaves stopped doing so in order to preserve the razor as long as possible, so I try to run it under the tap more nowadays.

This is very concerning to hear.
