YouTube Shaving Channels

Have you ever seen a company make or engineer anything close to a Gillette Fatboy today?  

Let's not go on a debate publicly here on this issue. But I will say this: I am an engineer: the kind of complex things I work on day in day out is beyond the imagination of most engineers worked at Gillette. It has just become more and more difficult for everyday people to appreciate the things we (engineers, builders of our time) put our sincerest effort now.

For me, my favorite shaving YouTuber is PaulHFilms. I love his stories and he is so funny. And I think its line "Pick up time" has become a classic to the point I found myself calling my touch ups "Pick up time" also!!

I also enjoy Kensurfs and Kevy Shaves a lot as well as Michael Freedberg.

Like many of you guys, I got interested in wet shaving and learned how to shave with a safety razor by watching Geofatboy's videos! So kudos to him for that!

Of course, Matt from Razor Emporium is great telling the history of vintage razors and I enjoy the series I'd Lather Be Shaving alongside Douglas Smythe of PAA!

I was watching Ken's Shaving and BS'ing a lot a couple of months ago but for some reasons, I found myself watching his videos less often now.

That sums it up I think!

Nobody following the WTF (Wet The Face) one-pass guy (Donald Youngner)? It seems to me he has supernatural titanium skin. The man can run sandpaper against his cheeks as a shave and still get no irritation. Unbelievable skin material. Also a very nice and honest guy. Worth watching.

He's turned artisan too with shave soaps and balms and shave bowl.

You can see him wild and bleeding when using a famous recent Chinese Kickstarter adjustable razor. The comments on his video really tested his patience !

I guess I need to watch that video, I have a difficult time imagining fluffy Donald raging about something. The wildest Donald I've seen was triggered by viewers telling him he uses too much soap in the bowl when building a lather. Which he does in my opinion

As well he was called to the mat on another forum for posting reviews of his own soap, i.e., "shilling".

Two points really irk me on many shave soap reviews in that many are far more concerned with scent or the post shave feel than rather with the "meat" of the matter: how well it shaves. The other is that many are just either too damn scared to give failing grades or are not critical people. Perhaps some are afraid the free stuff will dry up with bad reviews if indeed they do receive free stuff. I do not know.

Yes, that is clearly the case with an established maker who is merely altering scents, but not with a new maker. Of course, if an established maker is bringing out a new base, e.g., DG Icarus, then we need the "full Monty".
