Your worst shaving combination?

Today I have gotten the worst shave experience I have had in recent memory since I took up DE shaving. For some reason my stuff didn't want to work with me.

The Maggards V3A was simply too harsh.
The CRSW v1 fougere wouldn't lather. I don't even understand how this is possible when I had no trouble with MWF and Williams.
Semogue 620. I can't even look at it right now, I'm so disappointed.

Boars can get pretty soft and floppy if left to soak too long. I soaked it for about 5 minutes, perhaps I have underestimated it's saturation now that it is well broken in.

I had to grab my Rockwell after my first pass for damage control.

Maybe I was spoiled by synthetics? I used the Maggards synth with MWF and the shave was a revelation. I adored MWF again.

Today was just awful.. I will revisit the same tools in a month or two, and see if it was simply a fluke or if it was my technique that needed adjusting.

That is unfortunate and I hope you can continue to use those same items, later on.

Cold River soaps are excellent and the Semogue does a very adequate job (not my favourite, but it works just fine).
I have never tried the Maggards, so I won't comment.

I find my V3A to be very finnicky with certain blades - when trying a new blade in mine I have to make sure the blade is centered and even on both sides (I put a new Rapira of some sort in mine yesterday and, no matter what I tried, couldn't get it centered). Wouldn't attempts shaving with it like that, learned that lesson with cheap Chinese heads long ago. I don't have this problem with it with most blades, though, and typically really enjoy the head.

I find that lately if I get a poor shave it's usually my fault.  Either I wasn't paying attention or I didn't take the time to build up a decent lather or I used a blade one too many times; you get the idea.  I am not saying that this is what happened in your case, though.  

If you use this setup a couple of more times with the same poor result but get along just fine with other hardware and software then I'd say there is something in that mixture that is not working for you.  Try pulling out one element at a time and replace it with something else.  For example, switch out the CRSW soap for B&M or keep the CRSW but replace the boar brush with a synthetic or badger.  Keep the razor but change the blade brand or vice versa.  Or, if this is too much bother for you then there are certainly enough choices to never have to visit this setup again.  Whatever you decide to do, good luck.

I don't deviate too much when I shave..I typically stick with the same brush, razor, blade and only change out the soap for a different scent. that said, a while back I was trying out some pre-shave soaps from ach brito, their glyce lime soap made my face feel like it was burning!!!!!
