I have a bad case of SAD and SBAD but I have not yet been infected with RAD. I am currently using an ATT Kronos R1 and I love it. I really have not had a desire to try anything else. However, I am starting to feel an urge to branch out and I have been considering adding the S1 plate. Those familiar with it, please share your experience. Thanks.

You know it takes a different top cap, right?

I had it but didn't keep it. I thought I got better shaves with either the R1 or M1 plates. If not better, the shaves with the SB plates were at least as good. To be fair, I am not at all convinced that slants offer a better way to shave although I have certainly tried a bunch of them. For me the best of all has been the iKon X3.

Yes. Different base plate AND cap.

Speaking as someone who is much better acquainted with slants than with regular DE's I must say I like the S1. It gives me a very comfortable, smooth shave with outstanding results. I could use this as a daily shaver. Only thing I have to remember with this slant is: it is a three-pass razor. This razor practices what we preach: hair reduction. After one pass, there will be stubble in all directions, it's just that there's less. After two or three passes, depending on your growth, you'll be smooth as can be. Really good stuff.
Something I as someone who likes slants can really appreciate about this razor is that this is actually an original take on the slant. Just about every other modern slant is a variation on an classic Solingen model, the S1 (and S2 as well) is something new. Quite an acomplishment.
All that aside: the ATT S1/2 are really recommended.

This is my daily razor. I find it to be similar in aggression to the R plate, but smoother. This is a gentle but efficient razor. I've tried some other slants that are more torqued, and I find it is easy to get razor burn. The slant design of the S1 seems to be more geared to just stiffening the blade, which I believe contributes to its smoothness.

I have the S2 it's not for me unless I have 3 days of growth. It feels like I'm dragging a rake across my face. I'd like to try the S1 though.

Same experience here. I returned it and I dont like returning things. I have a Maggard slant that I think is great, but there are some minor areas for improvement. I'm wondering is the S1 is the answer.

I love my S1. Very smooth and efficient. If you have the R plate though I don't know if I would buy the S1. The S1 is in between the M1 and R1 as far as aggression for me anyway.
