celestino , comments from other members about international shipping costs, duties and taxes have me a little confused. I would appreciate clarification from you or another non US member.

I'm guessing the US makes it easier, though would like a better understanding.

I bought a shaving brush from Great Britian recently via Amazon. Shipping was $3.22 via Royal Mail. It took a couple of weeks, though I did get it. There were no duties or taxes that I paid.

I also purchase a lot of items that are shipped from China. Shipping charges are low and I've never been charged tax.

Having said that, I've read so many comments from non US folks that something must be different for them. Can someone help me understand?

At least they are being somewhat up front and transparent about it. And making it right.

Different steel?

Who's in charge of quality control?
They shipped these things to customers knowing the tolerances weren't to spec?

My Spidey senses are tingling.

Where's the eye wash station? I need it after reading that email.

I'm not buying their explanation, though they are doing the right thing. They have always made the razor from 316L grade stainless, which is often used for orthopedic implants. My best guess, which is just that, is that the manufacturer starting milling the steel too quickly, which can cause 316L to work harden.

I do have concern that there has been much talk about them knowingly shipping bad razors or claiming the smile was not a problem without really knowing whether these things are true. These have been based on how folks interpret the written word which leaves room for miscommunication. I haven't seen the actual verbiage that came from OneBlade.

I slightly disagree there. On TSN, someone wrote in to them about the blade smile on his and they told him it was part of the design.

We all know that's total BS, especially when the first few thousand s/ns had 0 smile with feather blades. Plus, aside from slant razors having the blade slanted, has anyone ever seen a razor that has a blade deflection that slopes into the center of the blade?

Yeah, that had a few of us scratching our heads! Check back a few pages to find the TSN link that was posted.

I'm certainly not asserting that they are innocent as there have been controversial actions.

The post on TSN that I found says apparently the smile is normal, and goes on to say that they replaced the razor and that he was getting great shaves. To me, it isn't clear from that post that they told him it was normal, though it does infer they said that.

I may have missed other posts. Based on the one I just referenced, I'm giving them the benefit of doubt based on seeing emails from them saying they are replacing it.

There is no doubt in my mind that they had manufacturing problems.

Pete, a few countries have importing fees on some goods.
In Canada, I am never certain on what will be incurred with a customs fee, but it seems that once you reach a certain amount, there is a charge.
With the OneBlade selling for over $200, I am certain that Canada Customs would charge some kind of fee. However, I am not certain as I had my razor delivered via a friend from the US.

That makes sense. Not too long ago there was discussion about the high shipping cost of getting PannaCrema products from the folks in Italy. That was high because he ships via DHL, which is the counterpart for FedEx Air in the states. I'm sure there are lower rates, though there is no telling how long delivery would take.
