Your thoughts on OneBlade

It's absolutely worth a try. Other SE razors didn't work all that well for me either. The Cobra just gave me an average shave and the Mongoose left me with nicks and weepers but this one is different. I am getting better shaves than I ever got with a DE.

It's reassuring to hear I'm not the only one who gets nicks and weepers easily with the Mongoose. I've found it to be a surprisingly tricky and rough razor so far, though I haven't totally given up on it yet.

I think I could have gotten along okay with the Mongoose if I had stuck with it but I also think it's a razor I would never have been at ease with. I got a fairly large nick one day and as I am trying to stop the blood flow my wife walks into the bathroom and commented that it might be wise to sell that razor. I took her advice and have no regrets at letting it go.
So,I had some hesitation about even trying another SE but this razor truly is the smoothest, most effective razor I have ever used. I suppose I should tell my son about it but that's likely to cost me another $300!

AFG008 if you remain curious about SEs, maybe try a vintage Schick injector or GEM 1912 at some point. They're great, and friendly, and can be found inexpensively, to boot, so it's not tough to justify a little exploration. They're not likely to best the OneBlade, but they'd be fun variety.

Honestly, onethinline, I am so curious about this razor but simply cannot countenance $300.00 for a razor.  Perhaps I am making a huge mistake but there it is.

Mind you, I did just pre-order a Roncel SE but I believe that is a whole different kettle of fish.

Freddy Not a huge mistake at all! Not wanting to spend $300 on a razor is a totally reasonable position, and as I've said, it's entirely possible to get an equally good shave out of any number of razors; they just take varying degrees of skill and care.

I felt a bit uncomfortable having spent $300 all at once on a razor, especially not long after buying the Mongoose (and knowing I already have many razors), but now I think it's sort of funny that I choked a bit with that but have easily spent well more than that for all the razors that came before. This hobby certainly adds up (though it still beats collecting sports cars or luxury watches, for cost)!

I absolutely agree though, in my case, it's fountain pens and their accoutrement.

I would go farther and say the best razor ever made--I have used many,many DE's and SE's and while I have got comparable BBS shaves,
no razor has ever left me BBS for this many hours after the shave. After reading all the reviews about the oneblade and how mild it was, I was skeptical I would like it because I always used aggressive DE's... ATTH2, 2011 R41,Shavecraft Tech,etc...---After 3 shaves with the oneblade,all those razors went to the BST. I have to agree with the oneblade marketing slogan and that shocked me but the slogan is true.

So now you need to sell me blades for it! I want the PSI equivalent in a single edge blade.

So do I ! Feather is close, but only for one shave with this razor.
Second shave is nothing special but acceptable, third destroy my face with tugging.

The OneBlade arrived safely.  I purchased BarryLu's extra, and he did a great job of making sure that it was wrapped just like new so I got the full presentation effect.  Aesthetically, it is very cool and is going to fit into my shave den very nicely:
