The Plot Thickens

Here is today’s e-mail from OneBlade, signed by CEO Tod Barrett. (Some formatting was lost when moving the text over here.)

Quote:Hi, Tod Barrett here.

As CEO at OneBlade, I wanted to share a few very important updates about the latest OneBlade Razor.

Inventory
First, a quick note about our inventory…

We sold out of OneBlade Razors again this past weekend, but I’m happy to announce that we received an additional shipment of razors into our stock on Tuesday. And that’s pretty much how the rest of the year should unfold – we’re doing our best to respond to demand and ensure that there will be enough razors to go around.

So, while it’s very possible that we will sell out of OneBlade Razors periodically between now and the end of December, particularly as we get closer to the holidays, we do have inventory right now.

[NEW] OneBlade Razor Model 2.0
The razors that we are now selling are not from the original model… rather, they’re a new and refined version 2.0!

Our goal all along at OneBlade has been to make a razor that can replicate the quality of a straight razor shave, with the safety and convenience of a cartridge razor. That means engineering a razor that can deliver one seriously close shave… but that actually has a very mild, comfortable delivery… and requires virtually no learning curve – no easy task!

So after our latest round of research and development… and after listening to feedback from customers… we found that by making an adjustment to our razor head design, specifically in the way that our blades latch, we could significantly improve the shaving experience that our OneBlade Razors are able to provide…

These changes have substantially increased the comfort and effectiveness of the shaving experience with our OneBlade Razor, including a significant improvement in the ‘forgiveness’ aspect of our razor.

In essence, we have enhanced the mildness of our razor while increasing the efficiency and closeness of the shave - no other single edge or double edge razor can make this claim.

We’ve also switched to an even higher quality stainless steel material for the head parts of our razor which is significantly stronger and harder than the material previously used.

Overall, I could not be happier with these changes. The OneBlade Razor 2.0 looks and feels the same as our original model, but is even more durable, and delivers an even better shaving experience. It’s traditional shaving at its best... fused with 21st century cutting edge technology.

Price Increase + Your Early Access Pass
So what does this mean for you?

Effective November 18, 2016, the price of the OneBlade Razor will increase to $399.

But as a thank you for supporting OneBlade, we want to give you one last opportunity to get a new and refined OneBlade Razor 2.0 while we still have stock… before we release the details of these model improvements to the general public… and before we permanently increase the price to $399.

You’ll be among the first to receive a OneBlade Razor 2.0, and you’ll save 25%...

Additionally, I’m so confident that you’ll love shaving with this refined razor model that I’m also offering a 100% money-back policy within the first 30 days of receiving your shipment. If you’re not absolutely happy with OneBlade, we’ll refund your money... no questions asked.

So if you are interested, I urge you to take advantage of this early access now… before the price increases to $399.

Now is the best time to buy for the holidays...

Best regards,

Tod Barrett,
CEO, OneBlade Inc.

P.S. If you have any questions whatsoever, please don’t hesitate to email us at support@onebladeshave.com or call us at 800-481-1436 and we will respond promptly.

Some takeaways for me:
• How much has the razor actually changed, and is the change in material significant? (I do know that Will S. shared some of this information earlier.)
• The price was already quite steep before this…
• A full money back guarantee is in place.
• Also — there is now a phone number for support issues.
Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

Hmmmm. If I understand correctly, Will has one of the 2.0's. The only upgrade I recall him mentioning is the loosened tolerance so the blade won't smile.

It will be interesting to see how the market responds to a higher price.

I copied this post from a different forum - couldn't agree more.

The original OneBlade was launched as "obsessively precise", with "borderline-insane attention to detail" and "no room for compromise or fault".

Now they are telling us they are improving upon German stainless steel and tweaking the head mechanism with a 25% increase in price?

Bullcrap

if they adopted Rolex's business model of completely "in-house" production... and forged their own steel.....then I can understand a price increase. This does not appear to be the case here.

I can forgive mistakes and oversights, but this wreaks of marketing scam and I won't tolerate dishonesty.
