I didn't see a thread like this so here goes.
Just curious what other have as a few of their slickest soap bases.
I would say right now mine are probably in no order. At the moment this is close, I might change some when through my soaps again.

           Ethos
           A&E- Kaizen
           DG-Milksteak
           Wholly Kaw- Siero

Unlike the majority of users, slickness beyond average is not a primary driver of rating soaps. Given the accumulated skin damage over the years, find cushion and postshave far more important.

However, that is not to state haven't encountered some slick as cat's guts soaps - particularly useful for straight shaving:

1, iColoniali Mango
2, ABC Creme
3, Xpex

What the above soaps possess in slickness advantage, they lack in cushion and postshave to my most beloved soaps:

1, ETHOS
2, GD
3, CE & WK

I haven't really noticed a strong disernible difference in slickness with most of the good quality soaps. As long as you hydrate them sufficiently, they all have, somewhat, similar slickness, to me, and have enjoyed the majority of the soaps I have tried. Smile

Agree on the "slickness" parameter being mostly the same for most soaps.

But "comfort" parameter is noticably different for some soaps. For off-the-charts comfort, A&E Kaizen definitely comes to mind. Never had anything but complete comfort with that base.

Completely agree.  Slickness is only one characteristic of a soap to which I look. The soaps Keto listed are, to me, excellent bases but not because of "slickness" as such -- they are relatively slick -- but also, as DanLaw points out, because of their cushiony feel and their post shave (as well as their scents).  During the last few weeks, I've had in my rotation not just A&E and Ethos (particularly, a lot of Ethos) but also Saponificio Veresino -- the Felice Aromatica in 4.3  In fact, Ethos, A&E and SV have probably been the majority of my shaves for a while.  A few days ago while shaving I was thinking that the SV is slicker than the other soaps I've been using. Doesn't make it better a soap than the Ethos or A&E, just a very slick one which -- when taken in conjunction with other properties -- makes it a soap I like.

So I guess the slickest soap at the moment for me is SV.

I do agree with you guys that slickness is only one aspect of what most of us want, need or are looking for in a shaving soap.
It's kind of fun and just good information to find out what other guys experiences and thoughts are.

Agree with DanLaw that slickness isn't the only quality I want.

That said, for slick quality, I like the following, in no particular order. These happen to have the other qualities I like as well:

Ethos
A&E Kaizen
House of Mammoth Tusk (haven't seen this one mentioned, it's worth a try if you haven't checked it out)
CBL Orion
Grooming Dept
