It just sits in my den as a ornament now.

@"rogue13", As far as I know, the R41 is the most aggressive razor on the market. I love mine - it is my favorite razor. They came out with this razor in 2011. It was so aggressive that no one could shave with it, so they modified it and came out with an improved version is 2013. If you have the older version, then that could be the problem.

It could also be that it just isn't the right razor for you, which of course, is fine.

Any DE razor. Doesn't matter how they hold that flimsy ribbon of steel, they never are able to perform well for me.

Seygus and Tech. Both didn't work for me, they are too mild to shave with. I didn't really try to love them as l have 50 razors to choose from.

Funny. Although I like the all-plastic version of the original Mulcuto diagonal that the 102 is based upon very much, the 102 doesn't really work for me. With diagonals, I've discovered that the less weight, the better I can shave wih them, and the 102 is just too heavy.
With slants I can handle a lot more weight without problems.

Hi Pete123, my Muhle R41 is a 2013 but to be fair I don't get on with open combs I have tried various brands of open comb razors & have had no joy with them at all, except with the exception of ATT S2 & Ikon 101 dual head. These 2 razors I just get on with(just about),the Ikon more though.
The Muhle I wish I could get on with it, as it is a good looking razor.

I have not been able to get along with my Ikon Tech (only tried it 3 times) I have not given up yet but I don't know when I will shave with it again. I do like my other Ikon razors though (I have the DLC Slant, and the 102 Slant).

For me it is the GEM MicroMatic Open Comb. Just so harsh no matter what blade I tried.

@"rogue13" , yeah, I read the whole thread after my post and saw the the R41 was mentioned a lot. I have the same issue with Feather double edge blades - they are very high quality blades, but I always seem to nick myself with them.

Wolfman's. I would have loved to get the same results I've been reading about but they just don't work that well for me, specially the OC.

A bit too harsh

What bladegaps did you try with Wolfman? I had the opportunity to try out two Wolfman razors. One the stainless WR1, and one a Ti with .74 bladegap. Te increased bladegap gave me a more effective but also more comfortable shave.
