I really like the Yates 3.25" stubby titanium handle. It allows for a lighter touch (compared to the Yates 3.25" stubby SS handle).
I tried it with the M plate last week and tried it with the H plate today and it makes for a more enjoyable shave with a sharp blade like the Nacet.

I look forward to trying it with EH plate in the future but I will have to wait several days to have enough growth to use that plate. Big Grin
Two days growth for me was barely enough to give the H plate any work to do. I think maybe I would use the M plate for 1-2 days growth, H for 3 to 4 days growth and probably the EH for 4+ days growth.

The titanium handle came in at the same time my Vector Ti came in so the handle has been waiting for a turn for quite a while. I definitely appreciate the higher efficiency of the Yates 921 in my mustache area which is where most of my razors struggle but the Vector Ti is an amazing razor and by far my favorite safety razor in the AC format at the moment. The Yates 921 is my current favorite in the DE format. I could easily have stopped at one pass with the H plate and the Nacet and had a DFS+ shave.

March 2023 was the last time I was on the Yates Pecision site (when I picked up the 3.25" stubby titanium handle). I did not know that they expanded the BYO concept so that you can just buy a top cap (BYOC) or just by a base plate (BYOB) or just by a handle (BYOH) with your customization. I ordered a titanium top cap and a titanium M solid bar base plate to go with the titanium handle that I already have. You want to go to the BYO section for what you want (baseplates, top caps, handles) instead of the BYOR (build your own razor) or it appears you will be charged more for the same items for some reason.

I already have the steel M scalloped, the steel H scalloped, the brass HYB (assume it is M since it was the original HYB offering and has the same blade gap as M) and the steel solid bar EH so I was debating what base plate to order in titanium.

I found the video below in the FAQ section of the Yates Precision site that helped me decide which plate to choose first.

Not that slim (< 90mm / > 100g).
But new design is nice.

What is the difference between the Merica, 921, and Winning?
And, when you do a custom razor, which one is it based off of?

They all have different heads and handles. The BYOR is based on the 921. Below are the specs from the Yates website:

Stick, thanks for your efforts! Not sure how I missed that.

Any idea what is the "People's favorite"?

You're welcome! I'm not sure which one might be considered the "people's favorite." Personally, my favorite is the 921-EH. I prefer very efficient razors with some blade feel. The 921-EH has great efficiency while still being surprisingly smooth and comfortable. For me, it feels much easier and "safer" to use than other high efficiency razors. I originally bought my 921 with the M plate, added an H plate later, and finally bought the EH plate that I use exclusively now.

What are your razor preferences and which razors do you currently like? That might help others figure out which Yates option might be best for you.

I've used dozens of razors. But now I don't pick up anything but my Blackbird SB, stainless and titanium.

The Yates H plate is closest to the Blackbird. You might find the Yates EH a bit too much for you if you shave daily; not sure though as YMMV.
You could get the EH plate along with the H plate to determine for yourself, but I still think you'd be fine with the latter.
It's a great shaver.
