Yates Precision Manufacturing Razor

AJSharp What plate would you like to see? I was leaning towards our flagship -M plate, but I know a lot of people like the -H plate as well. As far as the handle goes, these first razors will have the longer 4" handle, as that is the stock I have on hand. I'll add some Ti handles in the future.

What finish would you want on the Ti razor? I'd rather not do polished, but anything else is on the table. Again, I was leaning towards our go-to stonewashed finish, but I could do brushed or bead blasted as well. I also have the ability to anodize titanium, which allows any color except red or black.

I'd take one in brushed finished in a nanosecond. In both plates if available. I've been holding out for a SS polished version for the longest (I snoozed on the last time they were available) but, I'd grab the Ti for now as it's a great alloy for a shave tool. I'd still get a polished SS but, the Ti would definitely make it an easier wait...

Stonewashed or anodized and the hybrid or H plate would be my preference. Are you just going to sell the heads or pair it with an SS handle?  A SS handle with Ti head may throw off the balance.

GlazedBoker thanks for your patience on the polished stainless razors; I promise they're coming. I'm going to start machining them soon. I send them out to another company for electropolish rather than polish them by hand. This ends up being less expensive in the end, and it's a more controlled and repeatable process than standing in front of a buffing wheel.

The Ti razors are definitely happening, and hopefully soon. I think brushed would be a good choice for sure. Thanks for the support!

Shavemd If anodized, what color? I think long-term I can get pretty creative with anodized finishes, but stonewashed would be the quick and dirty alternative. I'm planning on making the entire razor from Ti, handle and all.

That's a very good point Shavemd. But, the longer 4" handle may compensate for the weight discrepancy. The shorter handle though could be an issue with balance & weight distribution feel of the whole razor. I'm pretty sure Jake YatesPrecision might have these issues under wraps and have a solution to counter the lightness of a Ti razor.....

Another vote for brushed!

All Ti is perfect, color? Blue for 4th of July! However if brushed or stonewashed is easier I would be happy with either as I have grown found of my SS stonewashed, it stands out amongst my other razors. I use the hybrid as a daily driver and pull out the H plate if I skip a day, both give an excellent smooth shave. Not many people talk about the line of bars on the baseplate but I think it gives excellent support and prevents blade chatter.

Not to throw more crap or unnecessary things to think about but, have you considered perhaps in offering a preorder for your razors, especially in the Ti alloy? I mean I think it would help in determining interest in it and you'd have a pretty good base for setting up potential future runs. Unless of course it will only be offered in limited releases. Either way, I think it would be a useful tool in gauging shavers interest in the product. Some of the other well known razor artisan manufacturers have gone this route with relatively positive results. Plus, you're home grown right here in the Good 'Ol USA. More power and support for our local guys is always a welcomed positive for wet shavers. Stateside at least.....

I’d preorder (pay upfront) for a Ti Razor in brushed or stonewash with both plates. I’m really curious what stonewash Ti would look like. I love the feel on the SS, it really is unique in the razor world. Maybe sticking with it for simplicity and brand continuity for now.
