Wunderbar Slant

I have been shaving exclusively with the Wunderbar slant from Italian Barber for eight days. At first, it was more aggressive than I thought it would be, and I would get one or two weepers. It is more aggressive than the other slants I have - 37C, 39C, Ikon 101B, Ikon 102 and the Razorock Prototype Stealth 3. However, it is extremely smooth. The last four or five shaves I have taken care to apply MINIMAL pressure and the shaves became weeper-free while providing excellent efficiency. Maybe it is because it is new, but I think this provides something different from the other slants and is presently my favorite slant. I love the combination of smoothness and efficiency. It is about $50-$60 less expensive than the Above the Tie slant (which I have not tried) so IMHO it may provide a less expensive entry to the growing spectrum of high-end razors, and slants specifically.

Glad you like it! Also, I believe the Wunderbar is a completely different shave than the ATT S1. The Wunderbar twists or torques the blade and the S1 just slightly slightly bends it. I don't have a ton of experence with Slants but when I got the S1 I wouldn't have known without looking at it if it were a solid bar or not.

I own the ATT S1 for a few days. My first slant. The Wunderbar was out of stock when I decided to pull the trigger for a slant. Thus decided to buy the S1.

I had a wonderful BBS at the first trial. The razor was then loaded with a PolSilver blade. Second shave led to BBS with 2 cuts when loaded with a Kai Blade. Loaded with a new Feather, the shave was terrible. The worst I ever had. A Cuts-and-nicks firecracker all over my face.

The ATT is an aggressive performer in a mild costume. The ATT S1 doesn't like too much pressure and/or "excessively" sharp blades at all. I love it though. When used properly, it reminds me of the OneBlade experience (with no smiling blade) : very smooth shave experience but with greater and more consistent BBS. No doubt that there is a learning curve. Definitely not a razor for unexperimented shaver.

I managed to snag a very slightly used Wunderbar for a decent price yesterday. I didn't receive it yet but I'm very curious how it compares to the ATT S1 and how it shaves in general. It's going to be a long wait till it comes...

I received the razor this morning and promptly shaved my two days of growth with it. All I have to say is wow, they didn't lie about the tolerances being tight, everything fits together so well with zero blade play. The razor feels weighty and extremely nice to use in the hand. It feels built to last, and it very likely is: machined 316L is no joke.

As for the shave itself, I'm not really used to it yet so I got a few weepers, but I really enjoyed the experience. I can already tell this is going to be a favorite as I grow used to it.

It's definitely giving my ATT a run for its money. Time will tell whether it becomes my daily go to.

Congratulations. The weepers are like discretionary income...they will vanish eventually.

It's a bit too aggressive with my favorite Polsilvers but seems to jive well with Voskhods, at least for my skin. I find that the Wunderbar is certainly more efficient than my S1.

It'd be interesting to hear some side by side comparisons between an S1 and the Wunderbar. I only own the S1 at this point and love its smoothness and the fact it can be used for me at least, with a variety of blades including Feathers. It does sound like the Wunderbar is more efficient, but if it did not have the same smooth face feel, I'd not be interested.

For me, Wunderbar is indeed more efficient but S1 is definitely smoother and more forgiving. As for beauty, I must be fair that the Wunderbar is really beautiful to my eyes. I would liken it's aggressiveness and feel with the Fine slant.
