Living on the edge
The old shave off thread was compulsory reading for anyone contemplating a wolfman, paradigm, blackbird, timeless etc
just to get acquainted with all the user reviews. Now that Im no longer actively seeking any DE razors, it will be fun to just
read what's new.

The credit card has been sheathed and put away, the Thayer's is on ice....fire away at leisure.

These new groupings look like a lot of fun and I gotta agree with Mark, what we considered "extremely efficient" 2 years ago is no longer the case.  The 2011 R41 and the Ikon Tech were the standards for a long time.  Not so anymore.  You have at least 3 Wolfman heads that match or exceed those two, IMO.  Kinda crazy when you think about the progression, huh?  Golden age is right, for us poor technique mutts/masochists.

When you get to the hyper efficient category, save a spot for the winner, my Rocnel Sailor.  It won't be the smoothest, although I think it will surprise you for what it's doing.  I don't think there is anything that can cut that close set on 10.  I'm hoping the Janus can get close.  Time will tell.

My only suggestion would be, don't spend so much time on the write-ups.  Your time is valuable, hit the highlights and drive on.  You shouldn't have to spend 2 hours hovering over a keyboard.  We can read between the lines and the ones that can't can ask questions.

If there is anything else in my den you need, say the word.  I think you now have most everything I do as I've trimmed down quite a bit.

Just for sport, I'm curious about what razors have unseated the R41 2011 and Ikon Tech from king of the hill. I have my own list, but I'd love to see yours!
The WR2 1.35 is close, arguable. The 145 and 155 for sure. 2019 Rocnel Sailor. Im sure there are a couple more that I've not really followed. That Taiga gets raved about, the yet to be released Stirling, and the Janus. Early reports on Janus and the Stirling have me super curious about it. Let's see your list.

I was disappointed to see what happened on the other site, it was the only thing that kept me logging on there. Great work so far, and looking forward to the upcoming shaveoffs.

I got "suspended" by them once for not responding immediately to a PM (which I received while commuting on a train). I explained and apologized, and was let back into the fold. I confess, as a lawyer, I don't understand "due process" on the forums...

P.S. I also got suspended when a young fella had an Amazon card for $25 but wanted to buy a vintage razor not available through Amazon. I volunteered to buy him a $35 vintage razor off the BST that I thought he'd like, in exchange for him sending me his card. He agreed. I bought the razor for him, but never received the Amazon card. And I was suspended for a rule violation, which I can't remember. I PM'd the mod apologizing, explaining that I was out $35, and that "no good deed goes unpunished." He seemed to agree, and let me back into the fold. Forum rules are arcane, and often contrary to common sense.

Well that seems typical of what a lot of people have messaged me saying they've had similar experiences to what you've just posted. So no surprise there. Glad to see you here my friend.

Thank you James for the support my old friend. Your words mean a lot to me and your so right I should have listened to you looking back. I guess I was a little naive believing the site would be supportive but I guess I was wrong!

I appreciate your offer and you know I'll take you up on the Rocnel as it's a razor I can't wait to try. I'm going to post up a list of razors on my list of what I can contribute and I know Mark and AJ have already committed to sending me some razors I don't have in my den as I think we have both done the same thing in trimming down our dens. A little over a year ago I had 136 razors in the den and now I"m down to 34 so right with you on that one. Of course I stopped using and sold all SE razors so that got rid of a quick 40 or so. LOL

Your not the only one who's suggested I trim down the amount of verbiage in my Shave Off posts and your right it has taken me 2 to even 3 hrs to complete just one Shave Off so I'm all about using less text.... you know though I'm a little long winded so it will be a challenge! LOL

I'll be posting up the list soon as I'm almost done with the outline and should have it up by Friday.

Good to be back in the saddle with the support from so many members like you!

Hey Frank! I'm glad this thread will be continued here.

Was there ever a "champion" for the smoothest razor?

I predict the 1.55 WR2 will take the crown for "extremely efficient"

The Rocnel 2019 Sailor and the Home Like Shaving Taiga seem to give me the closest shave right now set on high gaps with Feather blades. I had the Taiga prototype in house for about a week and the one I ordered should be here by the weekend. I am going to truly enjoy this and will read every word posted!

I'm going to be getting the Taiga in the pass around and I'm really looking forward to using it and comparing it to the Gibbs. The Rocnel 2019 is very high on my list of razors to try and LOOT James as been kind enough to off his up and I'll put it in the " Hyper Efficient Category " based on his and your input.

Thank you!
