Vintage Shaver
Seattle, WA
Since I retired a few years ago, my shaving now happens later in the morning each day and is slower and more relaxed than when I was driving or busing to work. My wife, who still works, has decided that working from home - originally mandated by the pandemic restrictions - is much more enjoyable than going to the office was, and she has decided never to return to office work. Fortunately her employers have readily agreed to this. But it got me wondering how many of you have switched to working at home rather than going to a different workplace and how this has affected your shaving routine. Does it allow more flexibility in the timing? Or a slower and more meditative pace of shaving? Or the 'opportunity' to just skip a day's shave now and then?

I've been working from home since March 2020.

I use to quickly shave every other day in the mornings before work. I now shave every single day (usually around lunch time) and at a much more relaxed pace.

I also take a shave of the day photo for my DFS journal and find a little spare time to go out to the shop every day to turn a brush handle.

It will be strange going back to the office again next month. But, I think its for the best... Personally, I need to get back to my old schedule, get engaged in my career mindset again and start exercising more.

Where I work, shaving isn't a necessity as I don't deal with the public. Still, I like my every other day shaves. I don't really find a different time, as much as a bit more relaxed in my schedule to fit the shave in (without the rushed feeling).

We have been back to 2 days a week for a few months. I'm enjoying a mixture, honestly. Still, my home office isn't fit for a long-term solution. So, working my way back to full time is probably good.

I'm with Paul about the exercising. I actually joined a gym in April. The COVID complacency has certainly been rough. If I could curtail the crappy eating habits, I'd be even better off.

I lost my job, last November, and have greatly enjoyed the time off. However, my shaving routine hasn't altered. I face shave every morning, around 6 or 6:30 am. Smile

Hasn't changed my routine much. I typically wake around 6, make coffee and do a bit of Bible reading, then work on the YouTube channel for a bit, then shave, shower, and get ready for work like normal. Just skipping the actual drive time.

I was considered essential, so I kept going to work. I had to wear the face mask 11 hours on my days, and that led me to look for very close yet comfortable daily shaving, as I hated the mask catching on stubble!

Since March 2020, I've been working from home. It's been great. I get as much done as before, but so much more efficiently. Does that mean I skip shaves? Not often. In fact I hate to miss a day. But I have noticed that when I shave keeps sliding off deeper and deeper into the afternoon. I used to get cleaned up in the morning to go to work. Now I look forward to cleaning up in the late afternoon when all the work is done. A good shave and a little time on DFS is my reward for a good day's work.

I was/am an essential worker so I had to go to work the entire time. I actually am glad as I would not have wanted to stay home with the wife and kids all day every day. But I must say wearing a mask messed up my shaving routine. I used to shave every day and now since I have to wear a mask I shave every other day or even 2 days. It made me lazy about shaving and now I only do one pass shaves and call it day.
