Hi all guys, sorry if I intervene suddenly but I need some advice because I'm about to buy a WR2 solid bar with Darwin handle and I don't know which gap to choose. I shave once a week, I don't have excessive regrowth but certainly a week old beard is not easy to shave. I would like a gentle cut but a very efficient razor. What do you recommend? Thanks to whoever will answer
I have CharcoalGoods V2 open comb and V3 closed comb and I am happy with both. I have a Vector Blackland which I am happy with and Blackbird OC. Generally I prefer aggressive and efficient razors but without exaggeration. I also have the WR1 DC which is great. Now I would like an aggressive solid bar WR2 without exaggeration.
I find 1.35 to be quite smooth and safe and blade neutral (or maybe only the tiniest bit of blade exposure), like a Rockwell 6S on 4. 1.45 is slightly more blade forward. If you like the Blackbird, the 1.35 may not get it done for you. I have the Blackbird and do not get along with it … I don’t like blade forward razors.
The mirror polish glides better. The cost is worth it to me. I don't really care for a Darwin in a WR2. It is more head heavy compared to WR1.
I am also an infrequent shaver. I have used all of the more efficient gaps in both heads. The WR2 is smoother than a WR1, in general.
On my face, an 86 is essentially a 125. The 94 is like a 135. The WR2 head is still smooth at 1.75mm, the highest I have.
With all that said, if i did 3 or 4 passes, i"d go at least 1.45. If i want to knock it all down with 1 hybrid pass, i'd get a 1.75.

What gap is you're 'great' WR-1 DC ?
If you get along with a Charcoal Goods Level 3 ... not version 3 ... that is a different notation. Generation, not gap. If a Level 2 & 3 CG works for you I'd say a WR2 120 at least ... YMMV.
