I don't think the standard 7 is heavier than the 7XL hollow.  I could be wrong, I no longer have them in similar materials.  Maybe someone else can confirm.  Also, the 7XL is longer and larger in diameter.  Longer moves the balance point away from the head all things being equal....making it less head heavy.  The absolute best handle, in my hand, is a hollow 7XL Hybrid with the WRH3 bells at the base of the handle.  This adds a little more weight to the handle end, getting balance closer to the butt of the handle.  They are hard to come by though.  Definitely off menu.  The WR1 head is lighter than the WR2 head, that's why I say the standard 7 works better on a lighter WR1 head. Just think of your razor as a see-saw....your fingers the fulcrum.  Balance point moves to the larger mass.  I hope I explained that correctly....lest the flames consume.
According to the chart on the Wolfman site, the standard 7 solid is 72g and the 7XL hollow is 56g, so the hollow XL a good bit lighter. The solid 7 is also heavier than the same-length H2 hollow (64g), which a lot of people feel pairs perfectly with the WR2 head. The WR1 head is only 5g lighter than the WR2. Again, I’m just pulling all this off of the WR website Photos and Info page.

By the way, beautiful collection!

Gotcha, I see the weights posted now. No matter, I still don't like the std 7 on a WR2. the length and diameter of the 7XL fits me better. Just my preference. YMMV as always. And thanks.

I'm with LOOT. The 7/3 XL (Hybrid Hollow) is just perfect in terms of weight and size. It weighs 59 grams (at least mine does) so 3 grams heavier than the standard 7XL Hollow.

There’s something wrong with your photo, I can’t see the rest of your wonderful collection. Wink
Ha. Ok. These are the ones I kept over the years. My Blackbird Jet is in a travel case for when I'm slumming it.[Image: 688cff0261ce9f01edf94212b787b303.jpg]

Hi there Ault. The one on the left is 1 of 4 prototypes built, the one on the right is the production Model S with the gold trim. The prototype is 8 grams or so lighter than the production but head geometry is the same. It's kind of redundant, but I liked the gold trim and 3D engraving on the butt of the Model S. The knurling is slightly different too. They produce the same result. Kind of silly to have 2 and to his credit, Murat tried to talk me out of the Model S because they are essentially the same.

Thanks G, wifey done real good. My first thought was, "28 slots huh? She must think I need 28 razors! I love this woman!" I took it as permission, although I am quite certain that was not the intent Smile

I think those extra 3 grams come from the bells on the handle base and it produces magic in SS.

Hi !
I need some advices from Wolfman-owners.
I put my name on the list a while ago, and I need to finalize my choice before receiving my invoice in a couple of months or so.

I shave everyday and like efficiency and blade feel.

At the moment, I’m using a DS Cosmetics Z0 (R41 clone) everyday without any major problems or irritations. I like it very much as it is *very* efficient. Quite aggressive and gives some blade feel, it needs good technique.
My other razor is a 1934 Gillette New LC open comb. Smoother than the Z0, very efficient too, though a bit less than the Z0, some blade feel. Great to use too.

I have read several threads on Wolfman razor but I’m still not sure which one to choose.
I would like to have a very efficient razor (read something like or close to the Z0), with some blade feel.

so:
- WR1 or WR2? (WR2 seems to be the go to choice of most, WR1 seems to have more blade feel and a thinner head)
- which gap would bring me near the Z0/R41 ?
- Open comb or Solid Bar?

Thank you very much!
