Recently picked up a WR2 @ 1.25 | 80 mm Solid. Four shaves in and great razor, all around. Nice handling, very smooth. Very happy with it. The only issue is it seems too much for my skin and leaves me with a bit of irritation near the end of the shave, most in my neck area, which surprised me. I normally shave every second day.

Regrettably, I think I will need to move to a lower gap, but before doing so, wanted some opinions on whether this should be the 1.05 or 1.15. From reading the impressive collection of opinions here, it seems it would be the 1.05. I've read the .95 has no blade feel whatsoever. If this is true, then it sounds like the 1.05 may be ideal for me.

Any advise appreciated. TIA!

I’m not sure if this helps, but the 1.15 has a neutral blade exposure.

What would you compare the WR2 1.15 with, in terms of blade/ face feel?
Which Karve SB plate, or Rockwell 6S? Or versus Timeless .95?

I have a 1.25 and I find it similar to the Timeless 95. I think it’s similar in efficiency to the Karve F plate, but it’s a lot smoother. I didn’t get irritation from the Karve, but it wasn’t smooth for me.

Any idea on the exposure for other gaps?

I don’t know about the other gaps. I just asked James about the exposure when I ordered and he said the 1.15 had neutral exposure.

We need FedsbackhandMatt’s diagram for wr2. I emailed them to ask as I am finalizing my order. I’ll report back if they give me the info.

This blade exposure conversation is making me think I should go for the wr1 as I typically like high blade exposure DE’s. That said, I feel like the Wr1 is more similar to other DE’s out there and the WR2 is a bit more unique.

Hi, gents,

This is good to know that the 1.25 and 1.15 have neutral exposure. Thank you. Makes my decision easier.

I'm going to stick with the 1.25 for now, see if things improve, but most likely go with 1.15 or 1.05 when I am able.

I edited my post. It should have said 1.15. I’m not sure of the exposure on the 1.25.

You can’t go wrong with either choice. I have a 1.25 SB and a .74 OC, and I enjoy both. The WR1 is different than other razors because of the head profile.

I'm on the list for a 1.45 WR2, and have been thinking the same thing. Im still thankfully far away, but I prefer higher exposure usually compared to gap. I'll probably continue to go back and forth until the day I need to choose! Lol. The only thing pushing me towards the WR2 is the unique design. Don't seem to be many razors like it.

Having just received a 1.25, I would seriously doubt that it has neutral blade exposure. A couple of shaves in, I am definitely picking up positive blade exposure. In contrast, my 1.15, which has been my go-to razor for a little over a year, feels more like neutral exposure, which is what I believe James has indicated is the case.

Just paid my invoice for my first Wolfman. Went with a .74 WR1 SB. Maybe next time I’ll get a WR2.
