Does anybody know what the blade exposure (or even relative blade exposure) is on the various wr2 and wr1 gaps?

Thanks

Hi Ali

I have no info for WR2 gaps but have worked out exposure for the WR1. Stopped at .86 as the .80 is plenty for me.

.86 = 0.25mm EFFICIENT
.80 = 0.17mm
.74 = 0.17mm
.67 = 0.10mm
.61 = 0.10mm STANDARD GAP
.54 = 0.10mm
.48 = 0.02mm MILD

Hope this helps Smile

Thanks Matt!

Recently picked up a WR2 @ 1.25 | 80 mm Solid. Four shaves in and great razor, all around. Nice handling, very smooth. Very happy with it. The only issue is it seems too much for my skin and leaves me with a bit of irritation near the end of the shave, most in my neck area, which surprised me. I normally shave every second day.

Regrettably, I think I will need to move to a lower gap, but before doing so, wanted some opinions on whether this should be the 1.05 or 1.15. From reading the impressive collection of opinions here, it seems it would be the 1.05. I've read the .95 has no blade feel whatsoever. If this is true, then it sounds like the 1.05 may be ideal for me.

Any advise appreciated. TIA!

I have a 0.95 that I have been playing with shims with. Each shim being .10. So assuming you can substitute my shim experience for someone who has actually tried all of the actual gaps. 0.95 and 1.05 are very similar to me. I have sensitive skin and 1.15 is really when things start feeling only so-so for me if I am not careful with potential for irritation. I can tolerate Gillette yellows more than any other blade in the 1.15 configuration. You may want to try different blades? I haven't tried a Karve C plate in a while but I liked the 0.95 and 1.05 much better than it for sure - not sure compared to 1.15.

I use karve d plate and prefer the 1.05 but also own a 1.15.

I tried a 1.25 and didn’t like it

@ Direwolf76,  I have a dual SB WR2 in 1.15/1.25.  I believe you will find a noticeable difference in these 2 gaps - I do.  I hope that helps.

I recently received the WR-2 OC 1.35/SB 1.55 and find it to be very smooth and efficient. I have only shaved with it twice. The first shave was with a Personna Red. The second shave was with a Personna 74. Both were excellent.

Many thanks! I'm in no immediate rush, and will continue with the 1.25 some more, but I think next time, I will try the 1.05 or 1.15. I think my concern is trying to avoid a Goldilocks scenario. Smile

I’m not sure if this helps, but the 1.15 has a neutral blade exposure.

What would you compare the WR2 1.15 with, in terms of blade/ face feel?
Which Karve SB plate, or Rockwell 6S? Or versus Timeless .95?

Any idea on the exposure for other gaps?
