Ok, the last few comments have caused me to come up with this question. Are there any WR2 1.55 users here who are not also straight razor users?

Yes and no. I shaved with straights, for years exclusively, but haven't shaved with a straight in probably a year or more. I am a high gap guy though. In the WR1 a 0.74 is as low as I'll go, and in WR2 I love the 1.55, though I also like 1.25. A lot also depends on blades. I like a good sharp blade like a Feather, Wizamet, Silver Blue.

Yes sir. I have refused to try a straight...or an SE. Kinda funny you ask today of all days because I was just studying the Sprecher website. He makes it very hard to resist...but it's a rabbit hole I dont have the patience, time, or $$$ for. No matter how much Kehole Sean tries to sway me...Nope!

I do have and use a WR2 155SB, among others, that I use quite frequently. Exceptionally close. Crazy smooth. I'm comfortable never knowing what I'm missing...today anyhow.

I own and enjoy a 1.55 SB, and no Straights for me  Big Grin.

I am using my 1.55 although I had to back the blade down from a feather but I've never used straight razors.
I've got a 1.35 that I enjoy also though. It's a good question!

Ignorance can many times be bliss, some religions are built upon that foundation.

Suspect you may find more high gap users sans straight experience AND more low gap users dans straight experience; theory being straight experience, even if ultimately unsuccessful, imparts angle control and feel with punishment for failure.  Only reason I left was time it took to get a proper shave without cuts compounded by the maintenance time daily and weekly. Just became too much. Yet adore it

I’ll tell you, between Sean and Mo from Grooming Dept, they have both caused me to seriously think about trying a straight. Mo and I talk all the time and he has almost had me on board. I just like my high gap DE and SE razors too much to add something new to the mix and I know if I tried it and liked it, I would want some of the most beautiful ones like James! Anyway, I will stick to the razors that I have and the future razors I have my eye on.

Nothing in the world like holding a Damascus blade with beautiful scaling. The truth in interacting so directly with a primitive yet precision tuned (and you will get very well acquainted with honing, tuning and mechanically repairing a straight) instrument is addicting. Even the scents emanating from maintenance procedures are intoxicating. Tried a few razors but always came back to a matched pair of Damascus beauties. Time was the limiting constraint or would yet be a straight user.

I used a Feather RG shavette exclusively for about 15 years (w/super pro blades). To me, that's about as aggressive as they come. I could only use that every other day, tops. I've been shaving 5-6 days per week the past few years and I have been enjoying it. I need to in order to use all this software. If I go back to shaving every 2-3 days, I probably would pick up a 1.55 or a high gap WR1 OC. Or just use my Feather DX or CG lvl 3 for each shave. But I think shave frequency explains why I now prefer more mid-mild razors, like the Ti .61 or 1.05.

I’ve progressed from 1.05 to 1.15 and currently using a 1.25 all in SB. Have a 1.45SB inbound shortly I’m eager to put some time in with it.
