In keeping with the sombre mood of the times, I ordered the basic brushed finish.
And a WRH7 XL in basic polish.....I like the contrast but it isn't for all.

Brushed basic is the ultimate no muss no fuss finish....I don't detect any lack
of glide whatsoever....this is just a rock steady workhorse.

It's taken upwards of a year of trial and error to come to the realisation that
1.35 is the lowest acceptable gap for my face...my everyday gap.
While the 1.55 takes over for multiple days' growth.

The 1.35 has just the right amount of blade feel...audio feedback of a Porsche 911
and just smooth as ever.

This makes my 1.45 gap surplus and I will probably look to offload it when some sanity
has returned to our way of life.
How does the brushed satin finish (up-charge) compare to the basic brushed finish? Do you think it’s worth the extra cost?
Do yourself a favor, go for basic. If you like a more matte finish basic matte, shiny, basic textured. I've always gone full boat, for the mirror. I did the basic brushed (upcharge) on a drop last year, and it is gorgeous. My google order for a WR2 1.55 SB with the basic textured is also beautiful and no extra charge. It is so good it is hard to tell it apart from a mirror from a few feet away. Next time I'm going basic matte. I'll never again pay the freight for the upcharge finishes, as lovely as they are.

This.

That's good to hear. I really like polished, but I couldn't swing the uplift for the mirror finish right now. I just paid my invoice yesterday for the following:

WR1-SB Razor Head (. 61mm Blade Gap)
Stainless Steel, Polished (Basic/Textured)
WRH2 Handle (90mm Solid)
Stainless Steel, Polished (Basic/Textured)

I like a milder shave, so I really struggled with the gap. My daily shaver is a CG Lvl-1, but I use the Lvl-2 when I make a nice soap and do a proper pre-shave. I'm hoping that the .61 gap is similar to the CG Lvl-2 in terms of how agro it is. I've never shaved with a Wolfman, so it was really hard to tell. If it ends up being too much for me, perhaps someone will trade me for a lower gap. Fingers crossed. I'm really excited about this razor. It honestly feels really surreal to have a Wolfman coming!

I would have suggested my daily a 0,54DC and happen to prefer the mirror on all but the BBS1

Everyone has a different experience and my favorite WR1 is .61 DC. For me personally the CG LV 2 is somewhat more aggressive, even too much at times. Similar but the .61 is better for my face.

Have 0,61DC and 0,67DC too. But for first 3-4 shaves of a new Timor use the 0,54DC

Thanks for your thoughts DanLaw and Max Sprecher! I have found that I do prefer solid bar over open comb. A friend who's number came up about the same time as me ordered the .61 DC. He also likes a less aggressive shave and thought about backing down to the .54. Ultimately we both went with .61 and I'm sure we'll love them. Max, it sounds like you and I enjoy a very similar razor, so I'm relieved to hear that you enjoy the .61 gap.

Thanks again for your thoughts and input guys!

I think 61 is similar to the CG L2, but I think the CG is a little more efficient and head a little more blade feel.

Another great shave with the WR2 1.05. It just may be the best razor that I have. It gives consistent reliable, no drama, close shaves. Handles several days growth with no problem.

How does the brushed satin finish (up-charge) compare to the basic brushed finish? Do you think it’s worth the extra cost?

The brushed satin has a soft gleam to it that elevates it over the basic brushed. As to whether
the upcharge is worth it over the basic version, the answer would vary from person to person.
If you can stretch your budget to accommodate it, brushed satin is a very nice finish to own.

I picked basic more out of curiosity and found it more than adequate for shaving purposes.

Excellent news. I anxiously await a shave report.
