I already own a WR2 (1.25 gap) which is plenty aggressive but not too much for me

This time, I'm thinking I'll order a WR1 Dual Comb. Very tempted to go with the .86 gap, but maybe I should play it a bit safer and do the .74.

For what its worth, I absolutely LOVE the Razorock Lupo. I get perfect shaves with it and I hear its modeled after a .61 WR1!

Why is this decision so hard? haha Smile

Any advice is appreciated!
For “ME”
.54 DC amazing
.61 DC meh
.67 DC so/so
.74 DC a little rough, not smooth, I tried to like it
.80 DC brilliant.....smooth operator, efficient

the search for the perfect WR1 ended with a .54 and .80 both DC and XL handles...

I don't really agree that smoothness increases with gap, but I do find the SB smoother than the OC. I will say that despite big increases in efficiency, the WR1 remains very friendly and controllable even at high gaps. It's a much more interesting and pleasurable razor to me than the WR2 is typically, which feels heavier and more muted in response, which is exactly what some guys like.

Has anyone regretted purchasing the Dual Comb option?

Seems cool and different, but I’m starting to wonder if I should just stick with a SB since nearly everyone seems to agree the SB is smoother.

Does the DC really add to the experience, or is it more of a versatility thing?

After re-reading this entire thread a few times, I’m now doubting my initial idea.

Now thinking about a .80 SB in basic polish (so I can exchange handles with my WR2).

I wouldn't say regret as I bought my only DC to see if the WR1 is the razor for me. The DC is great to try both options but all my other razors are single combs and I intend to sell/trade the DC when my order from Wolfman arrives. I discovered that I wasn't flipping the razor for the next pass but know some like to do that. I also had CG dual combs and sold them for the same reason. However if I hadn't bought the .54 DC, I may not have bought the .80 in the open comb.

I used to have a few DCs (with dual gaps),  back when I was deluded enough to think I’d only have one or two Wolfmans. Eventually I got sick of rinsing the blade twice as often.

It’s my opinion you get 2 Razors in one and there’s more value.  If you truly know what you want, then I think it’s safe to order full OC or full SB.  I always order DC with the same gap on each side.  I’ve never ordered a hybrid gap; ex: .80 OC and .95 SB. OC to mow and SB to detail it out.  I favour OC if full disclosure is necessary....

If I have to wait in line at this roller coaster I’m getting 2 handles, a stand and a head. I’m so rude and greedy when I order mine that I even ask for a third handle and a second head.  You never know if you don’t ask.  I’m not wasting my time. For the sake of saying it, my first sentence to Tara is always the same.....can you ask James if he can do my build in Titanium please...

If you hate the DC....there’s always the BST......

But if you do what you did because you know what you like, you know you'll be happy - it's like riding a bike..........sorry I couldn't resist  Tongue

Did you manage to order a third handle in the end? I asked for a second but didn't even think about asking for more...

James is a pretty busy guy, I truly believe he wants to accommodate everyone however there’s reasonable and unreasonable.  I always try for the later, just because...
