So I stopped bye Wolfman today and visited James we talked about razors and other life things. I got a great tour of the shop and James showed me some of his early prototypes and we talked about how he ended up where he is today. Things I learned is that James takes pride in what he does, and he can make razors on his machines much faster than he can polish them. Hence the new razor it's a Wolfman at a less polished level for a better price to try and meet the demand of all the people that want a great razor. So for all those that are wondering James has some things planned once things calm down (maybe a couple of months). James is a great guy that loves what he does and likes to make things people are happy with. He didn't have to spend hours with a complete stranger who's bought a few razors from but he went out of the way to make me feel welcome and informed

Buy a feeler gauge for around $5 and measure the gap. Measuring that way will get you close to actual gap. Then compare your measurements to the available Wolfman base plates to figure out which you have. Eg: you measure 0.59mm. James doesn't make a 0.59mm so it must be the 0.61. Then figure out a way to keep them separate or mark them somehow.

Very cool idea, I might even do this with my other razors as an experiment.

James is one person I would NOT want to be right now. It must be frustrating for him. Especially when he sees his work on Ebay at many times the going rate.

A simple fix is for him to increase the prices to the ebay levels.

It's not that simple. A price hike too high could drive away many customers. Just because some are willing to pay a premium to avoid waiting does not mean others will do the same. He can always try it to see how customers react of course, but it could backfire. I'm betting a lot of people would not be comfortable with a large increase in price for the same product. Besides, the long wait is part of what drives demand. If it were me, I'd be happy to see people paying substantially more for the razors on Ebay.

+1 at least for me.

There's a certain price point no matter how great the reviews are or how nice is the maker that I just won't cross. It's just a razor at the end of the day, a tool to improve and enjoy my shaves. It became even more difficult now, because there's a few readily available, but really good razors out there which is far more inexpensive.


At a certain price point it becomes a no go for me. I'm sure a few collectors won't mind the high price, it might even be a plus for that few cause it becomes more exclusive. That has some appeal to some, I noticed.


I'm actually starting to re-think a few of my liked soaps. I was about to make a purchase, but seeing the total price before I checked out, it hit me. The price is too high for me to comfortably keep buying them. As much as I liked this particular soap or product, it's just not sustainable.

Which soap? Just curious. I know Saponificio Varesino is costly at $25, but I have four of them and if I only used them exclusively they would probably last me 3-4 years.

Wow! Four soaps last you four years?! The way I load my brushes with soap, the Saponificio Varesino pucks would only last me 3-4 months. Nevertheless, my smallest brush is 28mm and most are 30+ mm, at the moment.
