James has now stated, on his website: (Underlining mine)

"Taking orders again in 2016.   Orders will resume at some point this year.   New designs will be developed as well.   The schedule is not clear at this time". The previous word was that orders would again be taken sometime in January or February 2016.

Dang, Ive been waiting but now I'm over it. Although he does everything on his own it must be hard to keep things in line.

So the last time any orders were taken was July of 2015 and now it says "sometime" in 2016 orders will be taken. So it takes a year roughly to get on a waiting list and then another 6 months or more to actually get your razor? NO razor is worth a year and a half wait time in my opinion.... that's just insane. I can see this kind of business model if it takes a year to get the number of orders needed to exhaust the materials being used so one does not have to wait to recoup material costs; but, it seems that a large portion of the community would love nothing better than to send him $350.00 tomorrow for his wares.... I would think you would want to make as many of these as possible as fast as possible.

I get your perspective. I received two this past year; I was put on the wait list in June and they shipped out in November so not that long a wait overall.

I pretty much emailed James then went on autopilot until they were ready. Arguably the nicest razors I own but also get that the value prop may not outweigh any difficulties, including waiting, involved with actually grabbing one.

Ordering in June and receiving in November isn't terrible, I concur with that assessment. However, anyone who has wanted one of these (this does not include me, as I think $350.00 for a razor is crazy talk) has had 8 months and counting to even get on the waiting list. Fair estimate would be 1.5 years to get a razor if you wanted one after June of last year. I think that's bad business. Had I been in the market for one of these razors I would have some severe angst at this business model. Part of me wants to get on the waiting list if it ever opens again and get one of these for the sheer purpose of reselling it right away. If it's going to take people 1.5 years to get one between when he "takes" orders and delivers a product, I could probably get four times return on my money reselling one... better return than my 401K!!!!!

True story! I got two and to be honest saved one, NIB that I considered selling to the community for what the cost of the next wait list would be [mine were at the pre-cost increase price] if they would give me their spot on the new wait list.

After using the first for a while I went selfish and figured folks could fend for themselves. Although I strive to be decent, I'm no saint after all Smile

The good old days when if you needed a razor you went into your local pharmacy and bought one for under $2 without hassle. Gillettes, Gem, Personna injectors they were all there. Now its someone's whim when you get your razor.

Not sure that's a fair characterization Jerry- I can still pick up a VDH razor at the local supermarket or just about any other mass produced razor in 1-2 days online.

Being hand produced and a one man show I don't believe it is an artifice or whim on Wolfman's side- just takes a long time in addition to having a day job.

I do admit I find other razors such as the Cobra, etc. to be more perplexing re: availability though.

I also ordered in June and I don't have mine yet. His website says he has started his June orders so it's interesting that some have received their razors from that time period and others have not. I began to lose interest several months ago and only glad I haven't paid anything.
